Recommendation on muffler replacement!

My muffler has a hole in it and the pipe back to the tip is rusted through at the muffler.

I'm looking to get good sound control but free up the exhaust without increasing the dia of the hole system. I have hear good things about the old fashion glass back mufflers and seem to work. Give me some of your wisdom!

I have a Dynomax Super Turbo and I can hardly tell a difference in sound from stock. If you are looking for better sound I recommend some other type of muffler..

Srigs
I had a staight pipe but didn't really care for the noise when the family was with me. I used a 4"x3" reducer and 3" pipe to take place of the muffler. I just recently bought a 15" glass pack from JCWhitney. It went on easily since it had 3" inlet and outlet and is 4" in diameter. I like the sound now. I have no problem with the "drone" and have heard it when others have moved my truck. The price was quite reasonable too.
Tom

A Walker or Allied have a good truck sound but to me, not to loud. I do have the 4" system with the Allied and it sounds
fine.

..Preston..

Srigs,

Been where you are and have done what you're thinking about doing. Odds are if the muffletr is played out the rest of the system has some soon to be found out corrosion problems too. Check it out before you spend $$$ on a muffler, then you know if it's gonna last or if you'll be starting all over soon after the muffler purchase.

Mark
DPPI
I'll bring so of these options and he is good a customizing with out costing you an arm and a leg.

Keep it comming if anyone has an idea! I'll post back what I end up doing. ;D ;D ;D

Re:Recommendation on muffler replacement!

My $0.02-

1) Unless you have strict vehicle inspections in your area, loose the kitty.
2) For the most awesome but mellow sound, FlowMaster in stock position just ahead of rear axle.
3) For less money and almost as nice a sound, Walker DynoMax round welded race muffler (long length).
4) For more money, but more awesome sound, go to a full 4" system. With a little shopping, you can pick one up for about $300.00 + shipping, already bent with muffler and hangers. Mandrel bent is better than most exhaust shops can do.
