March Truck Of the Month Poll
I guess I should have!
If you will search some of the older threads from previous years, you will read of the complaints where we were criticized for putting 4x4s with 2x4s, or long beds with short beds or any other possible thing that someone could complain about. Had it been up to me, I would not have grouped these trucks together knowing from past experience, that someone wasn't going to be happy. But I figured that we have stressed the choosing of the three poll trucks was completely at random and let's face it,,,,,, this is not for some big money prize and a National Championship or anything,,,,,,,,
IT'S FOR FUN,,,,,,,, IT'S FOR FREE,,,,, IT DOESN'T COST THE MEMBER ANYTHING TO PARTICIPATE and the DTR Staff does all the work (plus pays for shipping the plaque) with one of our Sponsors (TRE Diesel Performance) picking up the cost of making the plaques.
Sorry if I seem a little irritated, but it's getting to the point that it's almost not worth the aggravation anymore. If you don't want to vote,,,, don't vote and you really don't need to post why,,,,, I'm sure I have your reason wrote down on the "Complaint List" somewhere. Jeeze,,,,

I apologize..... I did not mean to bring up old memories.... That was never my intent... I guess I am a little upset seeing as there is no average everyday trucks in the poll.....
Just my opinion and please, my opinion really means nothing in the long run....
If you want a longer more specific explanation, please PM me and I can explain further...
Again, I apologize and I mean nothing by it, really....

No problem,,,,, I guess a lot of my grumpyness came from last month's TOM poll problems that ended up with some folks getting really nasty. We are never going to be able to please all the folks all the time. That's why we elected to go the "random route". It's completely "Luck of the draw" and I got a kick out of the kid's picks when it end up the way it did. I thought " thank goodness that an average everyday truck didn't get picked to run against any one of the three in the poll,,,, it would have been a landslide defeat, but once again, it would have been just the luck of the draw and I'm sure we would have still got negative comments.
About the only other way I can think of, would be to make the nominating category so strict and specific,,,,, it just wouldn't be any fun anymore.
We are always open to constructive input and ideas because we want to see our members enjoy this site as much as we do.

It is funny how the internet completely eliminates all inhibition and people say things that they normally would not. From across the datalines it is easy to complain and post opinions before you consider the other persons perspective. Obviously, there was no malicious intent, but still an interesting thing that happens across forums....especially large ones. The smaller the group the more respect there is; I would bet this was no different when the group was small.
I would be perfectly happy if the mods pick the best three candidates and put it up for an open vote. After all, they run the site....

John,
The back doors are fiberglass. There was a company in Texas making these years ago and they had a mold to make these doors. I've seen a few of these exact conversions for sale in the last year. The doors feel nice and solid and I like the fact that they are fiberglass since I live in the rust belt.
Mark Bayer does his with cut down steel doors. I did talk with him once and he said that each set was custom made to the truck it was on.
Take care,
Jason
