Water Cooler...... 6 March - 12 March 2005

I cannot believe everyone is still in bed.
However, out of the goodness of my heart, I'll let you sleep in this morning.
Rolling out of here to Ft. Sill in about 15 M. I intend to check on y'all later today, so whatever mischief you intend to get into, get it done early.

And the saga continues.

Woke up this morning to a chilly house.
It seems the furnace is on the fritz.
I can manually light it off, but the burners shut themselves off after 5 seconds.
I believe it's gotta be the igniter, the thermocouple(Flame Detector) or (I hope not) the control "brain".
Got my HVAC guy on speed-dial, but I guess he ain't up yet
(or sees it's me on Caller ID ).
Luckily it's 'sposed to be a little warmer for the next two days.

At least my old friend the coffee pot is still working.

Be careful on the road SR.

Y'all B safe.

Wow, where is everyone? Off goofing around? Ahhhhh, I know - - the sun finally came out - - haven't seen it for so long hanging around to see what it does.

Another gorgeous one here today - - almost boring. Take care.

Got one oil-filled electric radiator space heater.
Just spent the last 2 hours going to several stores in the area looking for additional space heaters.
Same story at each one.
"Uhhhh, We've packed them away for next season.......If you want an Air Conditioner....We got plenty of those."

Uhhhh, Got a newsflash Stockboy Dude,
......it's still cold outside, & they're calling for a chance of snow this week.........

We found one at a "National Wholesale Liquidators" near the house.
It took longer to find a parking space (about 45 minutes) than to buy the heater.

HVAC-Man is out of town, will be able to fix it tomorrow evening.

Have you pulled the thermocouple out? Sounds strange, but I got mine working one time by wiping it down and bending it just a "taste" closer to the flame front.

Hope it works out for ya.

Seem like there's two problems.
A: The furnace won't automatically light the burners after the gas valve clicks on.
(I can light it manually)

B: The gas (& the flame) shuts off after about 5 seconds.

It acts like both the igniter & the thermocouple have gone Tango Uniform at the same time.

Hmmmm, kinda does sound like the board, doesn't it.

By any chance does it have any led's that flash a code? I've seen a couple that do. If it does, there should be a code chart on the cover.

I'm far from being a HVAC guy, but have had to work a few remodeling houses.

I've tried the key on, key off thing..........

Nope....No LEDs,....I'm kinda leaning toward the "board" too, but then I'll let the HVAC guy have at it tomorrow.

UPDATE:

Got the furnace to light off manually.
Cleaned the thermocouple, looks like it's just a defective igniter.

Now I get to relight manually it everytime the Wifey gets cold until it's fixed.

Good to hear, but to tell the truth, I was getting a good chuckle picturing you with fuzzy slippers

Ed

Edit. You don't happen to have a gas grill that you can steal the igniter from, do you? Might not be exactly right, but you could probably get it to work somehow.

Good job getting the heat going. If you din't get it fixed, I was going to suggest you move in with 5erbob, if he is so bored and bragging about the weather.

Sorry to read of the loss of you beloved pet. I know it's hard, been there.
