Water Cooler...... 6 March - 12 March 2005

I cannot believe everyone is still in bed.:o
However, out of the goodness of my heart, I'll let you sleep in this morning.[laugh]
Rolling out of here to Ft. Sill in about 15 M. I intend to check on y'all later today, so whatever mischief you intend to get into, get it done early.

Have a good trip SR, thanks for the extra happy nappy time. Good coffee this morning too.

And the saga continues.

Woke up this morning to a chilly house.
It seems the furnace is on the fritz.
I can manually light it off, but the burners shut themselves off after 5 seconds.
I believe it's gotta be the igniter, the thermocouple(Flame Detector) or (I hope not) the control "brain".
Got my HVAC guy on speed-dial, but I guess he ain't up yet
(or sees it's me on Caller ID [laugh]).
Luckily it's 'sposed to be a little warmer for the next two days.

At least my old friend the coffee pot is still working. :D

Be careful on the road SR.

Y'all B safe.
Ed;)

Mornin' all. Had breakfast and 2nd cuppa[coffee]
SR drive carful, its a jungle out there.
Shovelhead, Hope it warms up so you don't freeze. Got any other sorce of heat.

Saw the movie "Avaitor" last night, about Howard Hughes. Wife and I enjoyed it.

Hoss what thought provoking topic do you have for discussion today:confused:

Wow, where is everyone? Off goofing around? Ahhhhh, I know - - the sun finally came out - - haven't seen it for so long hanging around to see what it does. :D

Another gorgeous one here today - - almost boring. Take care.

Got one oil-filled electric radiator space heater.
Just spent the last 2 hours going to several stores in the area looking for additional space heaters.
Same story at each one.
"Uhhhh, We've packed them away for next season.......If you want an Air Conditioner....We got plenty of those."

Uhhhh, Got a newsflash Stockboy Dude,
[director]......it's still cold outside, & they're calling for a chance of snow this week......... [dummy]

We found one at a "National Wholesale Liquidators" near the house.
It took longer to find a parking space (about 45 minutes[eyecrazy]) than to buy the heater.

HVAC-Man is out of town, will be able to fix it tomorrow evening.

sherod 03-06-2005 01:08 PM

Have you pulled the thermocouple out? Sounds strange, but I got mine working one time by wiping it down and bending it just a "taste" closer to the flame front.

Hope it works out for ya.

Ed

Shovelhead 03-06-2005 01:11 PM

Seem like there's two problems.
A: The furnace won't automatically light the burners after the gas valve clicks on.
(I can light it manually)

B: The gas (& the flame) shuts off after about 5 seconds.

It acts like both the igniter & the thermocouple have gone Tango Uniform at the same time.

sherod 03-06-2005 01:15 PM

Hmmmm, kinda does sound like the board, doesn't it.

By any chance does it have any led's that flash a code? I've seen a couple that do. If it does, there should be a code chart on the cover.

I'm far from being a HVAC guy, but have had to work a few remodeling houses.

Shovelhead 03-06-2005 01:18 PM

I've tried the key on, key off thing..........[laugh]

Nope....No LEDs,....I'm kinda leaning toward the "board" too, but then I'll let the HVAC guy have at it tomorrow.

sherod 03-06-2005 01:22 PM

Guess it's time to break out the fuzzy slippers.

Good luck stayin warm. May just be a good excuse to go burn some $$$$ #2.

Shovelhead 03-06-2005 02:18 PM

UPDATE:

Got the furnace to light off manually. :D
Cleaned the thermocouple, looks like it's just a defective igniter.

Now I get to relight manually it everytime the Wifey gets cold until it's fixed. [eyecrazy] [laugh]

sherod 03-06-2005 02:24 PM

Good to hear, but to tell the truth, I was getting a good chuckle picturing you with fuzzy slippers:D

Ed

Edit. You don't happen to have a gas grill that you can steal the igniter from, do you? Might not be exactly right, but you could probably get it to work somehow.

dssimecek 03-06-2005 02:29 PM

Good job getting the heat going. If you din't get it fixed, I was going to suggest you move in with 5erbob, if he is so bored[laugh] and bragging about the weather.[laugh]

Sorry to read of the loss of you beloved pet. I know it's hard, been there.:(

Shovelhead 03-06-2005 03:19 PM

My Zippo is doing the trick right now. ;)

I KNEW I saved it for a reason when I quit smoking 6 years ago. ;)

House is much toastier now.

NOW Wifey expects me to wash the Cruiser..........

I mean,....just because I just finished washing MY truck,..... and I was the one driving her 'Cruiser when the weather was bad so that's why it's dirty......
Geeeeeze Louise......there just no pleasing some women..........

OUCH!!!!!!!! Yes Dear, I'll get right on it.

......I gotta learn to type softer, or start wearing my tinfoil beanie so she can't read my thoughts.......
[laugh]
