Laws on smoke

What are they? At what point is smoking gonna get me a ticket??

For those who follow my posts I'm not a troublemaker and I'm not trying to blow smoke 99% of the time, just curious to what the legal limits are, especially in VA.

Don't know about Vir but here if you boil smoke everywhere in front of a cop than you will get a ticket.

When the quantity of smoke becomes stupid, dangerous or annoying, the cop will give you a ticket.

Like when your speed becomes stupid, dangerous or annoying. Or your loud exhaust, or your bright head-lights, or nearly anything else you can ever do.

In Texas, you can't emit smoke for more than 10 continous seconds. Also, the smoke has to dissapate within 10 seconds.
I unfortunately couldn't control my anger at someone who was about 4 coats of paint from my rear bumper last month and let 'em have it. I got a letter from the Texas Environmental Quality Commission. The tail gater turned my license plate number in. Don't blame him, what I did was wrong, and as usually happens, the second guy got "caught". The letter isn't a ticket or anything. It just asks me to please see if there is anything wrong with my vehicle

Write them a return letter.
Explain that there WAS something wrong with your truck.
It was UNDER-FUELED or the guy never would have been able to read your tag number........

transporting truck across country

I'm planning on getting my dodge shipped across country from N.Y. to Ca. Looking for suggestions for reputable transporters. I've searched on the net. So far, I've found from $1150 - $1700 door to door, open carrier.

Also, how do I find out if my dodge that I bought in N.Y. will even pass Ca. state emissions. Its an 2001 and its been BOMBED. Suggestions?

California doesn't have emissions checks on Diesel vehicles.

I think NY and Cal have the same emissions configuration. You may be OK.
I think CAL, NY, and Mass are the same.

That is true but he still may need to have it checked when he first brings it in to get registered. I think Calif. models need to be EGR equipt.

I believe the first EGR to appear on our trucks will be starting with the 2007's.

DMV doesn't have the time to go through that much trouble, do they?
