Kdp??

Someone told me that the "killer dowel pin" problem is on all motors. I thought it was only on the 12v. Can someone clear this up? Thanks, George

Somewhere around 1999 they found that they had a problem. They made a change where the dowell hole was not reamed all the way through, thereby not allowing the pin to come out. They started producing the new covers but used up the old ones from stock. From what I understand there is not real cutoff date, just when the old ones were used up. Cummins stakes the hole on all of them when opened up to prevent the pin from coming out. They put a block in mine in 2000 and staked the cover when they did it. I don't think anyone can tell you for sure on 1999 and 2000 models. On the other hand I have not heard that much about any 1999 up losing one.
