General Diesel Discussion Talk about general diesel engines (theory, etc.) If it's about diesel, and it doesn't fit anywhere else, then put it right in here.

So, if you exptrapolate you will have 425 = 420 x 5188 / 5250 I never saw a Cummins run at 5188 RPM. Even 425 HP at 650 ft lbs does not compute, because the Cummins won't go 3800 RPM either.
True.. but we need to know what RPMs they are talking about to use the math... Without knowing what rpm the engine is rated at we can't use the math. And that function only tells you data for that specific rpm. And diesels don't make max hp and max tq at the same rpm.

But yes it is an obvious error.

The real data is 350hp at 3013 rpm, so at 3013 its making 610fts.. at 650 ft lbs at 1500 rpm means its making 186 hp.

Cummins says there are no plans to move the ISB to any other mid size platform.. Thou I did read about a V8 design for 1/2 tons.

The torque is limited by the computer software on all the Cummins common rails so any strange #s would be possible

I have seen Cummins 5.9s run over 5k at the pulls

If you look in the lower section, it staes "650ft/lbs torque.." They somehow picked up the Hemi specs.
So, 12V's do not make this, normally!

Are you serious? Last thing we need is the Cummins to move over to Chevy. Coupled with the Allison, Chevy owners will run their mouth all day.
