Good experiences at a Dealership?
customers
It sure is nice to hear that I'm not alone in dealing with customers who are demanding. 14 years at the same dealership owned by the same family for 53 years. Do the customers have the right to demand the deal at no profit? Yes and I hope when they find it they get everything they want. Don't come bellyaching to me about your problems though. I believe relationships are the key to any business. AND I DO HAVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE A PROFIT ON THE SALE!
Absolutly you should be expected to make a profit, you are in business to make money.
That said, your customers should absolutly expect the vehicle to perform with a minimum amount of problems and a the dealers service department to cater to their needs. To include a vehicle to use if theirs is going to be tied up waiting for parts .

My overall dealer experiences have been good (the one i've had). Well, actually the salesman told me exactly what i wanted and his sales manager got mad and tried to screw me. I got what i wanted in the end. My salesman buddy got fired less than a month later. Bad dealers can have good salesman.
next, i would like to ask a question. I've been told that if dealers sell a vehicle at invoice they get around 5-15%. but am I right in thinking that the salesman makes nothing at just invoice? Is that why internet dealers can sell under invoice?
Why are there so many different prices? why can't it be like buying a new tv, if its on sale thats what u pay if not, full price?

There's a million ways ways to make a million dollars.
1: Make 1 dollar in profit from one million customers.
all the way up to:
2: Make 1 million dollars in profit from one customer.
If every dealer is making so much money,....why doesn't everyone want to become a dealer?

My take on dealers is that they treat you the way you let them. It is easier now to make the best deal possible with any dealer because of the Internet and information that is available. Not to say that you can make the best deal with any dealer, but you can make the best one that that dealer will give you. It is up to you to do the research, then find a dealer that will work with your expectations.
There is always another dealer a little farther down the road or even online. I think my last three truck purchases were fairly good deals, but I know that I could have done a little better in each case. I compromised to satisfied my urge to get a good deal quickly and conveniently for me.
The service department at my dealer that I have bought last two Dodge trucks from is as good as any I have ever dealt with. I do trust them to diagnose a problem correctly and fix it. They did warranty injector replacement that should have taken 3 days worth of Star bull, but they just said yes ok to everything Star said, then ordered the injector and replaced it the next morning. But service departments are always going to be on the high end of repair costs. If it is not warranty work and something another shop can do as well or better, you can probably get it done cheaper.
