Gotta love good dealership experiences

So today I drove down to cheyenne to pick up my truck from the dealer. I had taken it into 2 other places tryin to figure out what was wrong with it and every place agreed with me that something was wrong, but they said they didnt no what. So, finally I drive it down to cheyenne and I am not even half way back to laramie when they call and say they figured out what was wrong. Turned out I had some injector troubles. Which would explain my hand calculated 9.2 mpg when I drove the truck down there in the first place. Happy to say the replaced all six injectors for me free of cost. Btw, my truck just rolled over the 97,000 mark. So none too soon. Anyway when I got back to laramie today I decided to top off the tank just to see if the mileage had improved. On the 57 mile drive back to town I managed 15.34 mpg. Not too bad considering the conditions. I was on and off 4 wheel drive the entire time going anywhere from 30 to 50 mph. That little storm were having blow through sure made the interstate and interesting drive. Just thought i would share another good experience with a dealer! Alex

Out of curiosity, what were the symptoms you were having other than the low mileage? I have a friend with an 04 HO six speed 4x4 and its been having issues, stumbling in the morning when cold and blowing large amounts of oil out the vent hose when loaded (it was a gallon low by the time he noticed it). Just wondering if the injectors could be the culprit as well here... seems to me to be bad rings/compression or washed cylinder walls but the dealer has given him the run around. Appreciate it if you could lend some advise!
Thanks

Mine would stumble in the morning too. Had a few morning when I would crank on it forever before it would turn over. When i took it to the dealer I asked him to drive it with me in the passenger seat. He drove for a few miles and agreed something was not right. At a stoplight he dropped it into neutral and floored it. As the rpm's came down they kinda went a step at a time. Not smooth at all. That was when he said he new i had an injector(s) hanging open. He took it back to the shop and ran some fuel return tests (thats what i think he called it) and said he would have six new one in it by the next day.

As for the large amounts of oil coming out and the washed cylinder walls I had both of those with the previous engine I had (had a remanufactured engine put in the truck in jan). I no that the truck was not leaking any oil before I took it in the other day though. Hope some of this helps. Anything else, just let me no!
