Do you think we could make money with a bumper sticker that we put on Dodge trucks that had a blue oval and the words "Got a Light"

How 'bout a sales pitch for a truck that lights its own farts??????!!!!

I wonder if it sounds like that just when it is in "regen" mode?

How the Heck did the NTSB and Furds lawyers ever let something as dangerous as that go to market?
How many houses are gonna burn down? Little ones get burned or disfigured by that Flame thrower.
That's just ridiculous, Furd has a major problem on their hands like Gm in the 80's with exploding gas tanks.

It had a leaky injector - which is why it was flaming in regen mode. A healthy engine will not flame - and it sounds OK too.

I hope that you are either just joking or are simply too young to know what an overblown, sensationalist news story that actually was.

I suspect that ANY manufacturer would have a problem with exploding gas tanks when NBC places rocket igniters in them.

And yes, I have previously owned a couple of 1973-1987 GM pickups as well as scoured wrecking yards for parts for them and never once did I encounter evidence of this exploding gas tank problem.

Just remember like Dave (Wannadiesel) said that its leaking fuel or oil thats causing the fire not the DPF in regen mode like. So the 6.7 should be fine. My friend with a M715 with a 97 CTD can make a small flame out of his 5"stack but thats with lots of unburned fuel coming out of the motor and burning in the exhaust at WOT and over 1600* not idling. Leave it to Ford to patch the prob instead of fixing the prob. Im sure they will blame it on Navistar even though they helped design the engine just like the 6.0. Also like the Firestone tire prob. Sorry forks I have had blowouts and did not role my vehicle and die. They had a top heavy car and drivers that slammed on the brakes and cut the wheel when the tire poped. Some only lost the tred but people still rolled because they over reacted. Yes Firestone had a bad batch of tires but I ran a few sets of pulloffs ( REALLY CHEEP ABOUT HAT TIME)for a long time with no probs. Also The big 3 are all headed down hill fast and If Toyota puts the diesel that they use in every country but the U.S. and there 3/4 and 1 ton versions also every were but here I will by one. The big 3 have gotten over priced and lower quality. You can think the UNIONS for a lot of the Price part. P.S. lots of funny stuff on this.

Wow that video is scarrrrry.

So that is caused by a leaky injector. This is a different issue than the hot DPF and the computer reflash fix? Or does the reflash prevent the leaky injector?

I'm lost in the Ford problems.......help!

Need to be educated so I can really feel bad for my Ford buddys.

The DPF is not the prob at all its a prob with leaking fuel or oil into the exhaust. The reflash is so that if it senses exhaust temps geting to high ( due to oil or fuel being burned in the exhaust) that it will cut back on the fueling of the engien and keep it from blowing a flame so that it can take it to the dealer. Or so they say. The reflash fixes nothing. As much as I like to make fun of fords it has only happend to 3 trucks so far so dont get to worked up just yet. But it is funny just not for the guys that spent a lot of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ on a new truck and now got probs.
