Mainly because they don't make a REAL truck engine, just a peppy, quiet little thing that puts out big horse power at high RPM's... like a car engine.

My guess is because they dropped the International engine in favor of building their own, and Navistar won't put Ford's motor in the trucks. I believe you'll find they are built in Mexico by Navistar.

Ford dropped the Navistar engines because of what ford did to the 6.0. Navistar told them the that 325hp and 570 tq was to much for the engine design and longevity would be sacrificed. Ford knew they would lose market share if they left the recommended power and tq levels to what Navistar wanted. Eventually the incredible amount of warranty claims caused Navistar to refuse warranty repair costs reimbursed to Ford which wound up in a very large law suit between the two parties. They essentially settled, however Ford thought they could build a better engine hence the 6.7l Scorpian. It's not performing as Ford would have liked. Shocker. Several local ford dealers that I deal with are backed up for weeks on diesel warranty repair.
Navistar has alway built the F650-750 line of rolling chassis. They do not build the entire truck. It is known as a Blue Diamond International a joint venture between Ford and Navistar. Funny thing, I get parts for our fleet of Intertrashionals from International and half come with International and Ford part numbers on the packages.
