duramax injectors - sorry
My nieghbor needs to replace the failing injectors in his d-max. It is an 03.
I have had bad luck finding nearly as much info on the web about d-max injectors as I have finding info for cummins injectors.
If any of you could send me a message with good info or where to look I'd appreciate it.
His truck is stock other than a hypertech programmer and a after market intake. He tows and would like to stay with a mild performance increase and hopefully mileage increase as well. He has a full set of guages.
Thanks for the info.

does his truck fall under the umbrella of extended GM warranty... 7 year/200,000 mile warranty info
performance injectors are out there but full injectors are pricey... $2k a set... nozzles are about half that...

only the first gen dmax's (01-04) eat injectors...huge problem, it was so rediculous that GM extended the injector warranty to 200k.
I just saw one with 580,000 miles, its been through 5 sets of injectors. everything else is fine though! haha

Try www.dieselplace.com. It's the DTR for GM diesels. Lots of good info.
Assuming the '03 is under 200k mi, the warranty has been extended to '03 models as well as '01-'02.
There are specific symptoms though that are warrantied, some types of failures aern't, so read up on the TSB (whatever it's called), it's posted all over dieselplace in various LB7 threads.
From what I've read, some dealers are very liberal w/ their warranty on injectors and some are looking for any reason to deny the extended warranty, so it may be best to travel (if necessary) to a "good dealer" to save some hassles.
Knock on wood, 75k mi on mine and NO injector problems. Have about 22 mo of warranty left.

You could build a nice heavily modded 12 V for that price!

I don't know about that being a rip off, those injectors aren't cheap, internal warranty cost on them is like $250-300, and warranty labor is over 8 hrs. a set. There's a lot of work involved in that particular job and those injectors are a fairly advanced design with very exacting tolerances. We aren't talking about 12v injectors here, these things have to be able to contain up to 30k psi and are electronically controlled. I wouldn't want to foot the bill, but it's a lot better than when they were new and the injectors were $700+ each, warranty cost. Luckily i see you have an LLY so you don't have much worry about that. What kinda dyno numbers you puttin down?

It least GM will step up and deal with the problem.

I have no idea what my truck dyno's, and to be honest I really dont care. Dyno numbers arent really an impressive display of power in my own humble oppinion...they can vary from dyno to dyno, day to day, truck to truck, type of dyno, shift spikes, etc........ Id much rather see something run at the track or sled pull. Mine runs high 12's on fuel only, 106-107mph trap speeds, and weighs 7600lbs with me in it. Thats not very impressive at all in the diesel world, but it does everything the way I want it to, tows the way I want to, and works the way I want it to... BUT my engine is stock with 76,000 miles on it, stock head bolts, stock head gaskets, stock injectors, stock everything, except I bolted on an aftermarket turbo that runs 40-45psi. Every part on the engine is factory original except the ECM which fried at 12,000 miles. Trans is all stock hard parts, I built it myself with suncoast clutches and a suncoast torque converter. I tuned the truck myself with efilive, theres probably the main problem right there!
