Question Dual-Turbo PowerJoke ?????????????

Can somebody explain this mess to me? It looks like the exhaust dumps into one turbo normally, and the other is at right angles to it but they share a common housing? Is it at all efficient? I have seen twins before but this is ridiculous!!

Yes, it is a joke but no, it is not 1 piece.

It looks like they use normal compound turbos to me; exhaust enters the secondary first, then the primary. It looks like the primary exhaust housing bolts to the secondary's exhaust housing outlet.

That's what I thought. Pretty good setup for near zero smoke, quick spool, and top end cooling.

It's not a joke, it's actually a very good way to do twins.

I only wish we could get something more like this for a CTD application. The heat loss of a setup like Ford uses is much less than the traditional CTD twins setup.

Except my 04.5 CTD spooled 100x quicker than my powerstroke. At half to 3/4 throttle, the PSD spools immediately. At full throttle it has a stupid amount of lag.

Nice truck StrokethisCTD. Any plans for an exhaust? There was a review of an exhaust in the latest Diesel Power, the tips looked very nice. In fact the exhaust tips are my biggest turn off for the new Powerstroke and Duramax.

No, I meant that a powerstroke was a joke. I recognize that Ford actually had something done some what right.

No plans for the exhaust until the DPF is gone. When its gone i will probably do a MBRP kit

The only reason Ford PS has twins is to get it to pass emissions. And it still won't pass the 2010 emissions.

no problems with the new truck. i put an SCT Extreme livewire tuner in it and can safely say that this thing will run circles around my cummins which was bullydog equipped, and this truck does the 120 setting without a hint of tranny slip. My CTD would slip sometimes on the 90 setting.

ive only towed once with it. It was about 6000lbs. my CTD stock would pull that weight in overdrive going up a 7% grade. The PSD in 5th gear would almost pull it without needing to downshift but it did downshift and pulled it just fine. i guess thats what i get for having 1 more gear, more downshifting.

Top end on this truck is off the wall. The low end is good if you are only at part throttle. They go quicker if you roll into the throttle.
