Wow, if I let everything people wrote help make decisions for me I wouldn't even step out the door in the morning. I don't care what vehicle you buy there are positives and negatives.

I remembered the time a rented a little escort wagon because my vehicle was in the shop, by the time Friday came to return it, i had fixed the fan connector in on the highway, and only one out of four doors would open from the inside to get out. Those small Ford's are the biggest POSes on the planet, but hey more power to ya!

I'd like to see that Focus hooked up to a 30 foot gooseneck hauling 26000pounds. That would be interesting.
Good luck with that.

A man (or boy) has got to know his limitations.... you obviously found yours. Glad to see you're in my rear view mirror now. Don't mind the smoke, and close your eyes if you're scared. LoL

And beware of those dumpster diggers- if you park too close to a trash can, one of those dumpster divers might just stomp the Focus flat and take it in to get his nickel back.
Y'know, they sell a diesel version in Europe...

I suppose, given the tone of this post I've stepped back from replying. The simple fact is that life situaions change from time to time, and if a truck like this isn't needed, and it dosen't bring happiness to him anymore to have it, then why keep it? No one seriously celebrates when they burn an entire day's salary of fuel in a week commuting to work, or if they do they need some help.

I don't care what a person buys, or why it is that they own, or used to own a diesel truck. How about trying to act like adults and not depreciate this site, which is a generally positive one, by saying things that are out of line. I'm not against having a little fun when it's called for, but let's do it with respect.

Well as the first guy said about reading all that can go wrong scared him. I am still thinking the samething myself. I have an 01 and it has 48000 miles on it. I am starting to have some problems. Are they bad? Well I don't know, some say you have trouble with what ever you buy. I have had 8 new vehicles since I started driving, 12 if you count the wifes. I can say for sure that all the others combined wouldn't come close in repairs to the Dodge cummins. I in 29 years have never been let down or out of commission. In the last 6 months I have been off the road for 3 times at a week per time.
As I type it sits on a jack in the yard waiting for a brake caliper. Dodge said 5 business days to get one. Napa got me one but it was defective and I wait. They tell me its over 5 years old and they don't keep parts in stock and they have to come from the depot.
I have never worked the truck and wonder what kind of mess I would be in if it was used as a truck.
I agree that not too many people talk about something thats not broke but I am into it for about $4000.00 IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS and I don't injoy driving it much anymore. Last Friday night I needed a truck and was on the way to pick up something for wifee and the front caliper stuck on bad. This only after pulling all calipers and cleaning the slide pins and lubing them. I was less than impressed. On the way home I was hoping that it would get hot enough to catch fire, no luck..

I'm sorry but I haven't seen the light that I read about here for years, wanting one of these great and indestructable machines.
I want a vehicle you get into and drive, not something you worry if you will get home. I even joined AAA so I will at least get the truck home " When and not IF" it breaks down on the side of the road.

I would say just my $.02 cents worth but after owning this truck I don't have $.02 cents..Just alot of stress.

After reading my post I see that I should have stated up front that I'm not in anyway against this web site. I think its the greatest thing I have came across on line. I use it all the time for tips and tricks and its very useful. I am on here almost everyday and enjoy alot of the posts.
I also have to say most members are the very best to help when in need.
For me I wanted one of these trucks for years and once I got it and joined the group I found out the problems and was disapointed in my purchase. That being said we can't blame a web site for wanting to part with our trucks..
DTR and our members keep up the good work!!

I heard Ford Focuses explode when you turn the key over after a lot of starts. I would trade it in before it happened to you.

I don't agree totally with him, But I can see where he is coming from. I am a Dodge fan through and through. My first vehicle was an 1985 Dodge Ram 318 that my Gpa bought brand new, I turned 16 in 1996 so it was pretty rough restored it and bagged on it every chance I had. Still have it and still runs like a champ. Then I bought a 1997 Ram in 1999 and drove it till 167,000 and only put a water pump and battery in it. Then in January I traded it for this 01 CTD since I have always wanted one and love it. BUT since I have replaced two LP's and one VP44 and now I think the APPS is going out the truck and the motor are in awesome shape though. Still love it and will keep it but my wife and pocket book aren't happy. In hind site I wish I would of looked alittle longer and bought a 98 12valve. O and all my truck have been 4x4's and all blue. I also due all my wreching myself and love to work on my truck but man its gettin me down...P.S. I did buy a ford Ranger for a work vehicle after I bought the Dodge to cut on fuel cost...not a Focus though..noway...
