dodge V-10

So I have been thinking, how cool would it be to put a truck v-10 into a 1st-gen dodge.

The question: motor mounts, are they v-8 or cummins location. I think it will work but some feed back would be nice.

I think it would make a sweet sleeper. I was thinking about getting a V10 3/4 ton 4x4 before I got my 1st gen but I turned away due to 10mpg and more pricey (newer truck). Plus I wanted that sweet sound/smell of diesel

I always thought the V-10 was a dud, a sharp 440 would run circles around it, without the raspy sound and with equally poor milage.

Having towed 5th wheels with a 1996 V-10/47RE 3500 dually for 6 years before purchasing my current truck, the V-10 is fine as a truck engine. It's tuned for 300 BHP @ 4000 RPM and 450 lb-ft @ 2800 RPM with a 4500 RPM redline, so out of the crate it's not going to out-drag a 440 6-pack!

My experience with the V-10 was that it's thirsty (of course) but dead reliable - I never had to walk home.

The basic architecture of the 488 cubic inch V-10 is that of the 360 with 2 added cylinders and a 0.300" increase in stroke.

Actually I believe the V-10 is a 383 with 2 more cyclinders. That would explain the longer stroke stated above. I think it would make a great sleeper, especially if you could source some viper heads, intake, pistons and cam. They are good running motors with little problems other than a pathetic exhuast tone.
