General Diesel Discussion Talk about general diesel engines (theory, etc.) If it's about diesel, and it doesn't fit anywhere else, then put it right in here.

Plenty of people have commented the same concerns as you guys. I e-mailed them about it, have you? Unless we make our views known, nothing will change. E-mail them, nothing nasty of course, just let them know that we're looking for more articles on the older trucks and some features on the Cummins. I even pointed out that most of the really high performance stuff was Cummins powered, including two Ford pulling trucks, and the drag racers. The squeaky wheels get greased, let them know!!!! http://www.dieselpowermag.com/

I receive each month a publication called " AutoRestorer ". It is 30-35 pages of information about vintage cars and trucks. Best of all, there are no advertisments. This is the kind of format I would like to see but with light duty diesel powered trucks as the focus. With a pub like AutoRestorer you get the good and the bad aspects of the vintage vehicle world. They're not afraid to report negatively if a part or service is inadequate. You'll never see any negative feedback in any Primedia published rag. After all, you don't want to bite the hand that feeds you. A magazine with no ads has the freedom to write about things honestly. When a magazine is 4/5 advertising and marketing, like DPM and it's sister Primedia rags, it's owned.
For those who think Diesel Power Mag might get better or devote more space to older diesels, I would'nt hold my breath. It's obvious focus are the new and late model trucks.
Give me 30 pages of an information filled diesel pickup magazine covering early to late model trucks with no ads and I'll be happy.

Just my .02 and I'm in no way affiliated with AutoRestorer.

I just saw the new Diesel power magazine at Walmart. For a change it has som CTD stories. Not bad Even a picture of a Dodge pulling a Dmax and a SD on a trailer. They even have a Dodge ripped apart so you can see the grid heater. Propane install. not bad. I think they are waking up. I was surprised to see at least 10 copies in the rack. I have to go back as I forgot to get some PS for the truck so I'll see how many are left. I didn't think there were any diesel guys in town. Probably just SD guys, there are enough of them around here.

I'm suprised to hear it is on the shelf in Wal-Mart. I used to check for it each time we went in (about 5 months straight), it's been about three weeks now though.

Yes, the latest issue has a fair amount of Dodge/Cummins features. Its a diesel mag, not a Cummins mag, so we have to share with the Ford and Gm guys. And they're planning a 5.9 rebuild, with other Cummins features in the future. E-mail them your opinion's, especially if you want to get any Cummins features at all. http://www.dieselpowermag.com/ I think they are improving with each issue, lets give them a chance, our advice/opinions, and lets not kill the first diesel only mag, because its not perfect.
As for who has the most advertising, and therefore the most features, well someone has to pay the costs of producing the mag, and you don't have to buy their products.

Unforturately the new Editor is also a Ford guy. I'm sure they will still lean heavily towards the Powerjoke.
But it is nice to get a mag in the mail that is all diesel.

I also thought the new issue was better. It had a nice diversity in it. Plenty for the cummins crowd also. I am happy, adn if they will send me one more invoice I will subscribe. I was holding back because I was not going to subscribe to an all Ford and Banks magazine with my hard earned money.

Guess I need to send them an email..

I agree, finally a sport diesel magazine. If there's enough interest, maybe Edelbrock, Hooker & Comp.Cams will start doing some research for even more HP.
