Diesel Particulate Filter

Man, nothing worst than installing a massive exhaust filter on a diesel.
Anyway, here in our shop is a Diesel particulate filter thermal Regenerator and a Diesel particulate filter pulse cleaner. Take a look.

You were watching a machine clean a removable section of exhaust, called a diesel particulate filter. Pulses of high pressure air bursts blow through the honeycomb filters.

These are installed in the medium to heavy continues load diesels, Sanitation trucks, roll off's, etc.

Once the particulate filter is 'not breathing right' - by means of gauges, it receives a bath of electric burner heat for up to 8hrs in the thermal Regenerator . Then after it cools (6-8 hrs) it heads over to the Diesel particulate filter pulse cleaner, where it receives a beating of air pulses blowing debris from the filter for over an hr. The loud boom you hear is the air pushing the burnt carbon deposits out of the filter elements.
Thanks!

Tom

The cleaning machine, CAT was suposed to release a tool such as that a year ago but have had problems getting to clean enough ash out. Detroit and MBE have decided to use an exchange program, they use water and a sonic wave to clean theirs.

Interesting, Thanks!
This day was a filter from a Cummins 330 isl
Almost everything here is Cummins with the exception of a few Volvo and Mitsubish.

Can you say.. 'Ill be holding onto my p-pumped, non-EGR, non-gizmo 6bt for awhile'?
that looks expensive. I bet the energy used to manufacture and clean those things is pretty crazy too.
