Fuel prices suck these days and its gonna get worse. I feel for all the folks who gotta buy heating oil this winter. If I remember right, last year I read old folks and the like on fixed incoms were freezing to death in their own homes. Thats sick when the people of the richest nation in the world let this go by. Frikin greed thats all. Its like a diease that wont stop. Im no bleeding heart, but what has happened to us as a race of humans? Screw thy neighbor??? Is that how it works these days. Children on the streets starvin to death and were givin millions away to forign aide Or aids research in another country. Tell em to keep their pants on. Besides I finally figured out whos behind high diesel prices. The enviromentalists of course! Cant count how many times ive smoked out a tree hugger on a bicycle when I passed them going up hill in my neck of the woods. Course there riding 5 wide blocking the whole road goin 2 mph and wont move over so I must quickly pass when safe mind you. This is why they hate diesel PUs and by jacking up the price of fuel it will discourage us from buying them. Soon well all be on mopeds

Diesel fuel prices also hit a record high in Grand Junction on Tuesday, reaching $2.276 per gallon. The statewide average price for diesel hit a record Tuesday of $2.232 per gallon, according to AAA.

Turner said the price of diesel fuel is driven by a shortage of the petroleum byproduct used to produce diesel and home heating oil. Refiners are working to make up a shortfall in heating-oil supplies in some parts of the country, which means less product is available for diesel fuel, he said.

I haven't read all the posts but felt this is appropriate to post. Something we all actually have some control over

Thanks for the link Fastzilla. Very interesting. That doesn't mean we should run our 5.9 at 1450rpm full load. Mine seems to like 1750-1800rpm but that's only 55mph with 4.10 ratio and automatic. I might try running with the tailgate off next time I take the 5th wheel out. I know wind tunnel tests show we get better mpg with the tailgate on but that's not while towing a 5th wheel trailer. The front of the trailer and tailgate creates a big wind pocket under there. Good link!

That makes sense......NOT
OPEC wants us to use our strategic oil reserves (Further extending our dependency on their pumping quotas) rather than pump more oil in order to temporarily lower crude oil prices.

The second to last paragraph makes a lot sense. If the nation's reserve can hold 700 million barrels and we are at 670 million barrels what do you think will happen when it's full? The rules of supply and demand take over. The greedy beggars will be maxed out on their production and the US will stop buying it to put into the reserve. Too much supply drops the price. The reason they want the reserve used is, if it's not full then you have to keep buying to fill it back up therefore keeping the demand up for much, much longer. The producers can regulate the production to match the use of our reserve and keep the price where they want it. We get used to paying a little less then we do now and more than a year ago and we're all happy since the price dropped. The other issue is the search for alternate fuels when the price goes sky high. Look at what South America did. 90% of all new cars sold are dual fuel. They run on ethanol or gasoline and with the price of ethanol about 50% of gasoline they don't need the middle east crude as much. With our exploration of the use of bio diesel and ethanol also I think they see the hand writing on the wall. Let them keep pumping it out and let us keep looking at ways to not use it since it's so expensive. After all you can't eat it but you can eat the corn and soybeans we are so good at growing and making into fuel. Lets all pray that this is what will happen and our president can make it happen. W for 4 more.
