What's up with diesel fuel???

Particularly, THE PRICE!!!!!

My local Shell station just raised diesel to 2.36/gal, now .03 over their price for PREMIUM UNLEADED. I have looked at a few other stations as I drive by and they have all raised it similarly. In almost every case, it exceeds the price of mid-grade and often is is more than premium.

Is this happening everywhere, or are we just "lucky" here in Kalifornia.

Thanks,
Neil

Also, my local Shell is the highest price of all! I stay away from neighborhood gas stations. Go where the truckers go. I looked into getting a cardlock fuel systems card as it's still under two bucks if you belong. You have to have a business license though. May be worth the $35 to get one.

OOPS!!! . . . just noticed the other "fuel costs" thread. I should have chimed in there.

Feel free to merge these threads, Mr. Moderator.

Just read an article about oil prices (down $2 a barrel today, BTW) that mentioned that gasoline demand has been below expectations this season and stockpiles are relatively high vs. the reverse being true for diesel fuel. Nothing was stated about pump prices in the article but it seems likely that this would have something to do with why diesel prices are currently rising faster than gasoline.

That, or it's a huge secret conspiracy, take your pick...

$2.36? even in San Fernando, the 76 was at $2.10 this morning. The flying J up by my place is at $2.08. Not what I'd call good, but better than $2.36! You might want to try a little further east of Simi?

Here it Rockwall, east of Dallas, fuel was at $1.78 and gasoline is $1.74 ! I feel for you guy out in California paying over $2.00 a gallon. It seem like just a year ago fuel was around the $1.20 to $1.30.

The west coast is getting the Shaft on Diesel prices. Eastern Washington has been over 2 bucks a gallon for a year or more now............I heard they are building the new refineries for the 2007 cleaner fuel and we are already paying.......The high cost is driving up food price especially beef!!!!.....When diesel is a quarter more the Hemi starts looking a little sweeter IMO.......

I think another reason is all these 40K trucks the local station is just milking the market they see.... it's 2.05 (Safeway) here in Port Orchard Washington, the Texaco by the freeway is 2.35

I find me using my 1995 Saturn SLone as a truck more and more and only pull with the Cummins to help make ends meet!!!!

These proces are ridiculous, they went from $1.90 to $2.05 over night
Gas prices were still going down but now have gone up from $1.77 to $1.83. Makes me wish I was running BIODIESEL, I know people are still eating FREEDOM(French) Fries

I don't know about Oregon, but biodiesel here is $0.20 - $0.30 MORE than dinodiesel. Burning the bean is spendy.

Hey Tex, where do you go in FW? I've been going to the Flying J south of Dallas. it's 1.76.9 there. Sure would like to find a place closer to home!
