Cummins 230 and 250?
Does anybody know any information on these motors? I ran across these motors on craigs list, they came out of tow trucks. They have been sitting for a long time but not outside. The guy only wants scrap value for them, I was thinking about getting one for a future project. I was thinking about putting one in a 70s powerwagon someday. Would it be worth it?

They are 506 cube/8.3L engines. The difference in the number is the HP rating.
The tow truck operator is a pro. He knows vehicles and engines. If he removed the engines, there's a reason for it. If he only wants scrap value, there's a reason for that, too.
Unless you're willing to do a complete rebuild and spend a ton of money, don't touch it. The shop owner wasn't willing to do it, and that should tell you something.
