One thing that I have found that warms up the truck faster if I'm making a short trip is to put the fan selector on the A/C position, even if I'm using the heat, because it turns on the compressor and puts a bit more load on the engine and helps it warm up quicker. I notice a big difference on my truck. And the heat still works fine.
