I was surfing around and found out that DaimlerChrysler owns Fords heavy truck line, Sterling Trucks. When DC purchased Western Star and Frieghtliner, they purchased Sterling trucks.<br>Sterling now is what the Ford Louisville line used to be. You can even get them with Mercedes Benz diesels!!<br><br>Strange twist!!!!<br><br>Just thought I'd pass it on.

 

DC/Freightliner even make complete fire apparatus- American LaFrance.

 

I wonder if we can ever get this to the same status as ford owning cummins.

 

well it is kind of like a family tree daimler chrysler owns mercedesand they own detroit freightliner who owns sterling, western star, amercian lafrance, thomas built buses freightliner also bought out ford line of medium duty trucks just so they could discontinue them

 

Well not exactly discontinue, but you can only buy them as daycabs now. No sleepers any more. Dump trucks, firetrucks delivery trucks, but no more longhaul.
