Checked out the Nissan XD at the SHOT show

The truck is greatly improved over the outgoing model. 5.0l Cummins makes it even better. Borrowed several Ram styling cues, looks like the tailgate could be almost interchangeable. The bed and rear of the cab looks very Ram-like as well.

With 12,000 lb + towing capability and 555 ft. lbs. of torque (and Aisin tranny to boot) they really should market it as a 3/4 ton. I can see why Ram passed on this engine (although it stings to see another Cummins-branded truck out there), it just didn't "fit" in their line-up. The V6 from VM was the better choice for a 1/2 ton truck.

Not for me, but they'll likely sell a bunch of them based on the big "C" stuck to the side of the truck.

Funny thing, upstairs at the huge Ram display they were giving away Ram hats, t-shirts, bags, etc. with much fan-fare. Downstairs at the (much, much smaller & no booth babes) Nissan booth they were giving away Cummins hats, t-shirts, bags, etc. Nothing branded "Nissan", everything "Cummins". Which of course, I didn't mind. I brought home my share of Cummins swag, despite the source.

The looks is starting to grow on me. I really want to see what the extended cab version will look like and the door configuration.

Could be this or the Cummins powered Tundra for my next rig.

Strong competitor for sure. They are all starting to look alike though.

Would it still be called a 'Ricer' if it has a Cummins in it??

I think they are going to miss the mark with this. Dodge should have maybe marketed this engine as a smaller diesel for the heavy duty series. The towing is impressive but not out of gasser capability. I myself dont need all that the current cummins offers in hp and could use a mileage boost is what im saying. the 1500s just isnt the right market for this enigne. to low on mileage for what most will want im sure

Curious since Nissan is going to market the Titan XD as a heavy half (or light 3/4 ton) I wonder if Toyota will follow suit with the Tundra. Or will Toyota will do a one-upmanship and go as a true 3/4 ton?

I'm highly anticipating the truck's review in Truck Trends and Diesel Power when they get one.
The road test of the Frontier with Cummins was really positive. The test driver never stopped grinning.
Way more complexity but my 3rd's been very dependable in contrast to my '98.5.

Wow kinda looks like an engine under the hood too and not just a mess of hoses wires and plastic. Might actually be able to work on it?

I've been interested it this truck for short while now. Seems quite capable. I watched a computer animated video on youtube of the two stage turbo setup and wow! What a convoluted and insanely expensive looking design. It's impressive and clever. Let's just hope it's reliable. But being made by Cummins and not Navistar is a step in the right direction. I wonder what payload would be. They're running some AAM axle but I don't know which. Though they haven't made the jump to a full floater so it's still a weak link in the chain. Oh and I bet this truck will be 55-60K, much to my disappointment. So I won't be getting one anyways....

The truck uses the 10.5 AAM,with optional Nissan e-locker.
Built in Canton,Mississippi.
Hopefully,Nissan didn't install bj's from Dodge's supplier.
All body configurations will eventually be added from plain Jane to fancy.
The newest Diesel power has a good write-up but no test drive yet.
12K towing w/2K payload capacity.
AisinAS69RC six speed trans.

I wonder if they'll put it into the Armada? I'd like a diesel 3rd row SUV.

Since they are the same chassis, Nissan would be stupid not to. First full size diesel suv on the market since the death of the Excursion! I think there would be a big market for this combo. Especially the Cummins/Aisin combo makes it even sweeter.
