And left it there. Everything turned way up but no pyro gauge, front rotors had an 1/8 groove on them, steering column moved all over the place, windshied broken, power windows didn't work, and brakes needed pumped 3 times to stop. Motor ran good though and body had no rust. Too much work and money needed to fix it up to a daily driver though. Guess I'll keep on looking.

Sounds like a typical $5000-$10,000 1st gen! This is why I go for the $1000-$2000 1st gen's. All of em are gonna need work and money thrown at em.

He was asking 3 grand but willing to come down some for the brakes. Due to the lack of maintenance of the brakes I had real concerns on the condition of the motor (with everything turned up and no gauges to watch) even though it seemed to run well. The thrashed steering column was the straw that broke the camels back. I know I can spend $1,000-$1,500 more up front and get out of $3,000-$3,500 worth of work on a truck like the one I looked at. Plus a early 20's skater for an owner kind of turned me off. I could envision that poor 1st gen doing burn out after burn out. I'll watch for an old man's truck.

Got jipped out of a hell of a deal today. 1992 250 4X4 flatbed $2500 200,000 miles, new tranny nice shape. Call the kid at 1:30 and want to come see but he says he needs to pick up a pig. He'll call me and I can see at 6pm. No call from him by 6. I call him back a few times. Finally his mother lets me know somebody from Los Angeles called and had his friend from Gridley look and buy. I bet they offered more money.
What a crock. If he hadn't had an error to run that truck would be mine.
