For sure, that's a big & heavy ol beast. My work truck only goes to 42ft. That would make for some nice trimmin jobs! You could try running taller tires for a few more mph. The fuel screw takes all of 10-15 min. to do. The gov springs are a little more time consuming.

Been around them some. Not a bad engine. If its running and doesn't smoke blue when warm, I wouldn't turn it down. They do just fine, not especially fuel efficient but known to last many 100's of thousands of miles.

OILFIELD Trash...... Thats the low HP low speed SCR rig engine..... We got some 3512B's that are 2450 hp at 1900 RPM. Although, the service life of the 4AW's (the engine in your pic) is about 3 times the 2AF engines....

Does anyone get The Hook Magazine? It's a tractor pulling magazine. In one of the issues, I can't remember which one, there is a 2255 Oliver with the 3208. It's a mean running tractor. If you have the money to sink into the motor, a 3208 can be a powerful motor.

a 3208 will start on INSANe COLD days!! My dad had a Massey tractor with one- -8* out in the boondocks, nnot plugged in, and she fired to life!!! (I had a Bronco stuck in the alkali and he wouldn't let me get his good tractor stuck...)

also, a hyster at work has one- kind of gutless, but starts every time.

Yeah I have ran several of them, have never been a fan, seem to rev like crazy make lots of noise and go no where. Smoke like mad too.

Commonly reffered to as "The Screaming *****".

Not Caterpillar's Finest Hour.

That ain't nothin, we got a 3612 here at work. 4800 HP right out of the box. Pre-fabbed motor mounts and all.
It is a sweet engine though for sure.

Give me a call on the phone the next time you're gonna be down in my neck of the woods. I would like you to take a look at that monster pecan out in the back yard.
Me too, probably can find enough work around here to make it a good trip for you money wise. One pecan and two pines I know of for sure in my yard.

The 3512's are quite a bit smaller though. We've got 6 3512's, 1 3516, and 4 3612's. The real horsepower is on our 5 LM2500+'s 37,500hp each. They won't fit under the hood. But they will hang on a wing.

When we went to training for this engine, the CAT rep said they built a V2 of this size to test injectors, cylinder pressures, and all of that stuff. Now that would be something to get ahold of for sure. Not much on the rpums but good gravy think of the torque.
This engine supposedly went from drawing board to production in two years or something like that. Amazing.
