I know a lot of people are using a viair unit myself included 100% Duty Cycle. It will run all you want except probably air tools depending on what they are. I think there are PTO units and engine units that can be used for heavy duty use. Mine is just for filling tires and running my ebrake...

 

I have been very happy with my extremeaire from extreme outback. It is continuous duty cycle as well.

I am putting a holset two cylinder engine driven air compressor on mine. probably more than you want but I will be using it for my mobile speedliner sprayer. and airing up tires, tools and stuff too. but it requires me putting in an electric vacuum pump, and a different power steering pump to make room for the compressor. plus lots of plumbing and parts to try to find.

 

im looking for the most bang for tha buck type of compressor. if they make one

 

Viair makes some good stuff. Make sure you get a 100% Duty one.

The Oasis would get my vote if it wasn't retardedly expensive. Do a search on e-bay for PUMA air compressor. I know it looks a little cheesy, but look at the specs for the 12v compressor. It flows enough to run impacts. Most air compressors show between 3-5 CFM, but it's at 0psi. If you run them at 90-100psi it drops to less than 1CFM. It may be okay if you have a large tank, until you drain the tank. The PUMA was showing 3CFM@90psi with 100% duty cycle. This is what I'm going to try. I'll have a seperate tank plumbed in also.

 

I was trying to find a PTO compressor for when/if I get bags and an exhaust brake. Smallest I could find online was a 30 CFM screw compressor. Way too much for what I'd need, or most people outside of industry. And screw compressors are a fair amount of cash. Better off going with and engine driven or electric recip.

 

How about modifying and old AC compressor? I've never done it but I have read about them.

 

i would be instred in converting my a/c pump that sounds cool. more info please.

 

Might try a google search for modified AC compressor. I installed one in a '76 (I think it was) CJ-5 jeep a few years back. I don't remember the particulars, but it took me a few hours to fabricate the mounting brackets. I used it for years, sold it working, and it WOULD PUMP AIR! I put a quick disconnect on the output and use a cheap coiled yellow hose to reach out. Worked excellent.
