Anybody know anything about older isuzu diesels?

I am looking into getting this old farm truck from a buddy of mine. it is a old 77 for f-250 4x4. Im not even the slightest ford fan but the old trucks like that are built to work. his father put an isuzu inline 6 diesel non turbo in this truck. its pretty unique. i was wondering if anybody has any experience with these diesel engines. It isnt no Cummins but its for a good price. if anybody has any input on it please let me now.

thanks,
kyle

A 77 Ford F250 is probably one of the toughest trucks ever built (just the way they ride should tell you that) as far as Isuzu diesels, they have built diesels for just about everything & everyone imaginable, sounds like a winning combo to me!!

My cousin has a 1978 ford with a inline Isuzu in it. I think he bought it in Michigan in the mid eightys. He put on an exhaust brake and a two speed rear axle. The truck just is just starting to rust as alot of its life was spent in the desert southwest before coming back to NY.

A friend had a 4-cyl Isuzu diesel ane it was terrific. My only concern would be the lack of power. I had an early Dodge with the 100 hp Mitsubishi years ago and it was a real D O G! That truck was only a 1/2 ton 2wd, I am thinking (I don't know) the Isuzu won't be much more powerful in which case it could be a handful in a much heavier 4wd Ford.

yeah his brother has a 79 ford 2wd with a isuzu 4cyl. diesel with 5 inch stacks its a cool truck but like you said its a dog. smokes like a freight train. he found a old semi junk yard and took the mirrors, front bubmper, cab lights, airhorns, and 4 foot cb whips off of it and transfered them on this truck. its a little semi. cool little project. thanks for the input
