5.9 prices vs 6.7 prices
I'm wondering why the 2010-2012 6.7 s with more amenities seem to have better prices than 06-07 5.9s? Is the 5.9 that much more reliable engine? Ive read early 6.7s had issues but would have thought these would be worked in several years...I'm looking and find within few 1000 the later 5.9s and 6.7 few years old...

Worse mileage, less reliable, DEF to buy, more stuff to fix, that costs more to fix, more often.
I could care less about the amenities, if the rest of the truck needs expensive stuff fixed that a "do it yourself'er" can't do at home.
Comfortable chairs, and WiFi hot spots in a truck that is in limp mode, and headed to the dealership is not the amenities I am looking for.
Thats is why I am happy in a 12V. It runs forever, cheaply, which is what I am looking for in a truck.

I know the 12v reputation,,,i had couple,,, other than the 5.9 they have many issues also...I ve looked at several (1st & 2nd gen) in past few months and believe the miles have been rolled back...and with back seat comfort being a premium with me now, im looking at 06+mega cabs or late models with larger rear seating...The 06 megas with decent miles is priced same as 2009-2012...Anyway just curious as to if there were a specific issue.

The 2010 to 2012 do not have DEF so they do need to regen much more often, fuel economy sucks and they can't be left to idle or they plug up the DPF (diesel particulate filter) and the intake at the grid heater. The trailer brake controller is junk on the 2010/11 but was changed on the 2012. They only had 500/5000lb hitches from the factory. The 68RFE transmission is quite good but no drain plug on the pan. If you go manual G56 the clutch can't take any additional power, 6th is not high enough while reverse is too high.

The big thing i think is that the early 6.7's have worse mpg because of the emissions crap. But the newer 6sp automatic would be worth a lot to me. I'd just do a DPF delete if I got one of those.
