My 99 will get 20-22 mpg hand figured if you drive it nicely and keep the rpms below 2000. Most of the time I get in the 19.5 mpg range running a little over 70 mph on the highway. The Mach 4s are getting about 1 mpg better than the mach 3s also.

I think being that the chevy weighs about half and is 360/650 it just pulls better and averages better mileage. As far as longevity goes who knows I'm selling the M2 off and will never make that mistake again. Bigger isn't always better, unless it's beer.
The bean counters at Ford have really messed things up in the blue oval camp selling of their heavy truck division . The old L 9000 with a Cummins M-11 or N-14 was the best truck out there for construction applications bar none !! I drove all of them Freightliner ,International ,Volvo ,Sterling ,etc ....... and the 9000 was a bit plain on comforts but they just earn their keep day in & day out and don't crack crossmembers like the other brands . Sorry to hear about that Mercedes engine ,first I have really heard about them in a heavy truck app . I LOVE the lil 3.2 in mommas 320 CDI Mercedes it is a fantastic engine that gets close to hybrid mileage with a LOT MORE POWER !!!

I think alot of the problems with warranty issues on the new dodge trucks is because Mercedes now owns them. Mercedes seems to be a much more profit oriented, less consumer oriented company. I own a viper and have seen a change and spoke to a couple of dealers who aren't to happy now that mercedes has taken over. Time will tell. I really don't want anything else to do with them, but I do like the new challenger .What I have found as a fact is that the higher ups in Freightliner out and out just lie, which is disgusting, and they couldn't give a sh*t if you like their product or not. It's really a shame because all you need to do is behonest and make real attempts at fixing something and I think most people would be understanding. But denial of problems and out and out lying is bullsh%&.
