My little BX1800 4x4 18 hp kubota never bogs when moving hay, dirt, gravel, snow, tilling, or manure. But i would also like a little more power & some whistle, so if you figure it out let me know.
Make a post on www.tractorbynet.com in the Yanmar section... they should help you, great group of guys over there, sure helped me with my YM1401D

.THANKS i am going to go look around on that site to see what they have
Just about everything 'Yanmar' in a John Deere is JD spec Yanmar stuff, so it won't be like any Yanmar tractor. You'll be better off posting in the JD section, although those guys seem to just go buy a bigger tractor when they run out of power
Having said that, Tractorbynet is a great site with a bunch of great folks and tons of info. Have fun looking around

I have a JD 4300. I turned up the fuel on it and it definately helped. These newer tractors are turned down so far from the factory that even under max load they produce little if any smoke. My rule of thumb for tractors is that when reved up from idle under no load they should send out a light haze. Then under load they will smoke about right. The max fuel screw is located on the back side of the fuel pump under the shutoff solenoid. It has a round cover with safety seal wire. You need to loosen the lock nut and turn the entire threaded shaft. I think you turn it infor more smoke.
On the topic of turbos, JD now has the turbos on the small engines like ours from the factory. Therefore you could purchase this from JD and install it on your tractort. Be aware though that the turbocharged models have a larger oil pan with much greater capacity (6-8qts).
Hope this helps

heck i was mowing some thick grass this weekend and it was nothing but black smoke pooring out of my tractor.
i was wondering if i turned it the wrong way or the right way i can get it to smoke when i throttle up and then kick the mower on. any ways how much does your tractor smoke i can lay a black cloud when i get in to mowing the thick grass.
Should i keep adjusting the thread shaft intill the tractor hazes at full throttle? i am just worried its going to smoke like crazy under load

I have mine set so it that when pulling pretty good it is putting out a dark haze. I dont like it to lay a black cloud.
It really shouldn't produce smoke at full throttle when warm if no laod is present.
From what you wrote I would say you have it turned up to far. It only takes a turn or so to get the result you are looking for. There is a point of diminishing returns where you are just waisting fuel and carboning up the engine. A light haze is about right.
