Why not sulfer additive???

I remember when I was a little younger and everyone switched over to unleaded gas... You could go out and buy a bottle of lead additive for older cars... So why hasn't anyone came up with a bottle of sulfer additive for our pre-07 trucks???? I think most would agree that the LSD gives better mileage than ULSD, so why not come up with a additive to pour in the tank during fill up...

And as a bonous it would help lube the pump better...

Or you can go the 2 cycle oil route.

This is actually quite easy to answer. The switch to ULSD was due to emissions reasons. The process of lowering the sulfur ppm reduces the lubricity of the fuel and the BTU's. The lower sulfur in and of itself is not the issue, it is the process of removing it. Sulfur in and of itself is not a lubricant. While it can be combined with nickel to form a low melting point eutectic alloy that can increase lubricity, by itself it is not a lubricant. SO adding sulfur will not increase BTU's (thus "improving power and mileage") nor will it increase lubricity so there is no real reason or market for it as an additive.

I would check the MSDS for that. Sulfur simply is not a lubricant nor by itself can it raise the BTU of diesel fuel. I suspect there is plenty of other "stuff" in that bottle.

**EDIT**

I checked the MSDS....OUCH. Would you want this in your engine?

1,2,4-Trimethylbenzene
Aliphatic Hydrocarbon Solvent
Mesitylene
Naphthalene
Petroleum naphtha
Trimethyl benzene
Xylene (mixed isomers)

Where is the "sulfur" ?

With CR injectors, alcohol is a no no. Damages seals more than it helps.

Way to many solvents in it to be used in your engine. I'll just stick with quality #2 diesel fuel and Lucas once every few months to clean up the injectors.

So i do a lot of work in the terimials. Every time i go to a new one i ask them what do they put in the diesel for lube. They all call it the same thing. Lubricity, it is added to the diesel as it's loaded into the tankers. Still to get an MSDS on the stuff.
