Can I use LSD B20 safely?
Like the title says... I found a station here that says LSD B20 on the pump. It is the same price as local stations ULSD. I know Cummins approves the engines for B5, but what are your experiences and opinions with B20?

I have run a little B20 in my truck but with the fuel that was already in it I was only running 6-7% blend. A guy I work with has run the B20 in his 1999 Mercedes with no bad effects and another guy has run a lot of B20 in his 2001 7.3 with no problems at this time.
I don't run the B20 much as the station is a good bit out of the way and it is generally 10-20 cents a gallon higher than straight petroleum diesel.

Ok well I had 1/4 tank of regular ULSD diesel when I filled up with the LSD B20 today. I can tell you that after driving around for a bit and letting it all mix up, my engine is definately quieter / more quiet. I can hear the turbo and exhuast over the engine more than I could this morning for sure. Also, some spilled out of the filler hose on my truck before I even pulled the handle, and I can tell you, that stuff is slippery. Should give me back the lubrication that is taken out of the fuel during the ULSD refining process. Thanks for your post Equalizer.

That seems to be what most people are saying. I'll see what happens and may even put up with a slight loss or mileage since the engine sounds like it is very happy. But, I could be wrong, and sounding happy could be different than actaully happy!

I have run B20 for the last 5k miles. I did not notice a drop in mpg, but I did when I was running B99. I also added the extra filtration that Dodge said to use if you want to use B20. The dealership did some warranty work this past week and did not care about my biodiesel use. I love the fact that it makes the engine run quieter so I can hear my exhaust better.
B99 will strip your paint if you don't rub it off immediately. I'm not sure if B20 will, but I'd clean it up right away just to be sure.

If i run any Bio-diesel i loose 2 or 3 miles per gallon, Right now I get an average of 20.... hand calculated. But I alway put some cetane in my fuel, and you are right, the bio is super foamy and it looks like the old diesel.

Only if you have a dirty tank. If the tank is clean it shouldn't be a problem. I can only get 5-10% bio here and I haven't noticed any drop in milage, or plugging of my filters when I run it.

B50 and up can clean out your tank depending on how much #2 was left in your tank when you filled up. You see varnish can build up in your tank over time with out you even noticing, knowing or seeing it. Being you have a 2002 I would carry a few filters under the seat just to be safe.
