I wouldn't worry Rick... I didn't hear about a plant shutdown, are you thinking about the BP pipeline? It may have a slight affect on prices, but not long term. I would be suprised to see crude go much higher in the immedate future... Suply and demand, the market would not support oil at $100 a barrel, much less double what it is now, without DRASTIC changes to world conditions (politics, etc...)
I was told that all of the oil produced in the BP pipeline actually never makes it to the US...it all goes overseas because its better quality than what they get in the middle east so they get a premium price.
Not sure if its true...anyone else know?

ALL oil that goes thru TAPS (Trans Alaska Pipeline System) is BY LAW required to go to the US... and all the oil that went thru the defective BP pipeline goes into TAPS at pump station 1
this rumor is older than the Ford owns cummins rumor.. been hearing it since 1980 when I moved to Alaska originally...

Thanks for the link, I was not aware the ban had been lifted... quietly sneaking those things in..
there's also efforts to try and build a natural gas pipeline from the north slope, since the only real thing they've been using it for is to generate power for the north slope..

You think that's bad? Come out here to Idaho where it's $3.59 gallon!
