Never thought I'd get flamed over my last reply, allow me to correct any misunderstandings... "Why should I pay for roads & not You"(?) lol I agree... never once said I was privelidged in avoiding paying my fair share of any road tax. Simply put, if an individual does not fit the definition of "supplier" and is simply using veg for "alternative fuel" and/or "experimental" personal use purposes... then that person should be exempt from unjust punishment. The punishment should fit the crime. In the State of Illinois, anyone running an alternative fuel (who's not a mega supplier) is required to pay the current road tax rate for each gallon of veg consumed in a combustible engine on a public road....same as paying the road tax on each gallon of dino juice consumed in a combustible engine on a public road. (Illinois Diesel road tax is apprx 21.5 cents/gal). To sum up my point from previous posts... You gotta love the current political burecratic and public bandwagon that says we need less dependency on foreign oil, yet they balk at the thought of getting the laws straightend out enough to give the folks who give an honest d*mn...an honest break.

taking your argument one step further, why should i have to pay toll on the turnpikes when i pay taxes every time i fill up? yeah, taxes are great maybe like the social security tax you pay every month. now let me see, i wonder how much money the crooked politicians have left in that "social security lock box?"

i don't mind paying the tax but have a real problem with the crooks running this country that abuse our contributions as tho it was there own private "stash."

gee, i wonder if all the cars i see on the freeways here in socal sporting "Baja" license plates pay tax to uncle sugar when they fill up with $2.38 per gallon of tijuana gas????

enjoy your taxes because they are going up real soon!

Didn't mean to sound as if I was flaming you.......this is a dry medium at times.........I know I will have to pay taxes on the volume of bio I produce when I get set up.......and yes the penalties do seem out of portion to the offense most of the time ( I have a buddy who was originally fined over $10,000.00 for one tank full of off road diesel.....the fine was reduced, but still over the top) I get irritated at the politicians that are trying to make "roads already paid for with bond money" into toll roads. I have already help pay for them with taxes! Honest break? Not in this life time.

****UPDATE****

My truck is finally back together (trans rebuild) and ready to get back on the road.

Now its time to make the decision about getting my blenders license so I can continue to run the WMO in the beast.

Need to decide if the hassel of the paperwork is worth it etc.

ANY INPUT??????

Not sure about the particular pike youre talking about, but in Ohio, the turnpike is privately owned by the Oh turnpike commision, thats how they get away iwth tolls. Well...at least until they turned it over to the state. Now they say that the tolls are being disbursed to all Ohio highways, which makes no sense.

This entire thing is stupid. You just can't win. No matter what you do, they find a way to get money out of ya. I feel bad for ya, man, 2000 bucks is just rediculous. I've heard they have started dippin tanks in light trucks here in VA more and more, too.

and i agree with the thing about the Amish, too. I'm from ohio, and we deal with it quite a bit. I have nothing against the Amish, but they cause accidents, they pay no taxes that i know of, and they make an income, being as their stores are basically a tourist attraction.

And they dont need a search warrant to search your vehicle. Its just like if they suspect you are transporting drugs, they can legally tear your vehicle apart if they want, and dont need a single peice of paperwork, since you are on a public road

What ratio of WMO would one have to fill a diesel tank in order to get "punished"... 25% WMO to 75% Diesel ... 50/50 ... 75/25???

If I were to add 2 gallons of WMO & then top off my 35 gallon Diesel tank... would "they" be able to test & discover the 2 gallons of WMO?

If it turns it black they will send it to the lab and test it.

Still makes me wonder what happens to a person vacationing in or simply passing through a "ANTI-ALTERNATIVE FUEL" State? Are there currently any road signs (like the infamous, "RADAR DETECTORS ARE ILLEGAL HERE!") warnig motorists that "ALTERNATIVE FUELS ARE ILLEGAL HERE WITHOUT A BLENDERS PERMIT? (I just love our country's "tongue-in-cheek" attitude toward lowering dependency on foreign oil!).

On a side note...

How risky is it (from a mechanical standpoint) to run a gallon or two of WMO at each fill-up in a 2003 dodge ram HO 5.9L???

Would pre-filtering be absolutely necessary considering I use Mobil1 Oil Filters?

The wmo should be filtered down to atleast 5 microns before it goes into the tank

No signs in our state warning motorists that you cant run these fuels.
