Question Help starting WVO filtering and processing setup......

I want to start running about a 60/40 WVO/#2 and need some pointers from the experts here. I can get a couple 50 gallon plastic drums and have a bunch of fittings and 1 1/4" flexable plastic tubing. What all do I need to get to filter and process the stuff? I am on a tight budget so simple and cheap is key.

Also, any tips on talking some of these fast food places out of used oil? I thought it would be easy but am learning otherwise.

You need to do some more research. The WVO needs to be heated before it is injected into the combustion chamber. Even if it is mix as you intend. For more information check out http://www.frybrid.com/ look at their forum as well

yup, hes right. If you inject WVO even as a mix youll have bits of high viscosity fuel in there which wont atomize properly and will coke the piston and injectors. if you did it for a long time it would coke the rings and cause a mess.
Google viscosity of diesel and veggie oil.. pretty big difference.
The only two safe ways to use veggie oil are converted into biodiesel or in a heated conversion with a sencond tank. You have to inject hot and into a hot motor so that means you need an aux fuel system to do WVO.
Ive got diagrams in my photo gallery if that helps.
oh yeah.. besides filtering the stuff you need to remove the water which means heat and spray or heat and vacuum. The water is a big problem.

If you just want to filter and mix, might I suggest going with WMO?

Or just make it into bio...its cheap and the only money you'll have into it after making your reaction vessels is lye, methanol and a whole lot of sweat equity. Its not that bad, and if you set it up right the first time it can pretty much make itself.

What kind of ratios do you use with WMO? I have a heck of a supply of that, and it would be better/easier for me than trying to get WVO. You have my compete attention!!!! Gonna burn it in my 75 Mercedes. Can't take any chances is my truck! I love it too much!

cummins approves of clean WMO up to 5%. I'm sure you could go much higher than that.

I've done up to 30% at a time, smokes a little more at idle, especially when cold. Seems to run fine though. I really don't have that many miles doing it so I can't give any long term results though.

I would think 15-20% would be a good safe ratio to go with.
