First home tank of bio-diesel
I had my first tank delivered over the summer. First batch was "bad". Had all sorts of trouble with that. Eventually it was all drained and a "new" batch was put in. Still some more trouble. Worked out some kinks...maybe a month went by. Again, more trouble. Won't stay running. Yet another tech came by...fuel is bad. UGH!!! Tomorrow A.M., its all coming out and I'm getting regular #2 diesel. I don't think this particular dealer has his act together, yet. Too frustrating, especially this time of year.
I'm done with biodiesel.

Too bad! By the title, I thought you'd produced your 1st tankful and I was going to offer congrats and support. Have you thought of making your own?
PM me if you need a bio inspiration talk. I think I've made over 9,000 gallons at my last calculation.

Make sure once youve drained off the glycerol that you wash the biodiesel and filter it.
If you use a water-based washing process and not a dry resin one, youll need to get the water out of the fuel with something like a vacuum flash method.
Water and soaps get along really well and youll get all kinds of crud and settling.
Good biodiesel shouldnt settle out crud even if its been sitting a couple weeks.
Make sure youre letting the methanol / lye mixture react for a good 15min and that the lye is completely dissolved before using it.
Its also helpful to make your titration solution each month so it doesnt screw up the readings.
