van conversion

Has anyone here ever seen a 5.9 Cummins put into a van? I am considering buying a 3500 van and putting my 91.5 engine and trans into it. What kind of problems would I have?
Thanks for any advice.

Think you'll have problems with the length of the 6bt. If you want a diesel in the van you'd be better off with a 4bt.

Thanks for the reply Thrashing Cows. I figured that I could just lengthen the doghouse to accomodate that issue.

Well if your OK extending the dog house back between the bucket seats then I say go for it. But with a dog house your going to be strapped for room I think, and the exhaust manifold is going to have to be swapped for a unit with the turbo flange pointing straight down. Even then the pass. side of the van is going to be toasty with all that exhaust manifold/turbo and down pipe crammed over there.

Thanks again mr cows. I had envisioned something like the vans were back in the old days when they all had a large dog house to deal with.

91 gmc g3500 diesel sap 4x4

I have a 1991 GMC G3500 rally van 15 Passenger van… I want to use it to travel with 15 passengers for basketball team... Second I want to use it to tow 15000 LBS -17000 lbs boat trailer etc… I plan on putting a duramax diesel engine in it and putting DRW axle on it to increase safety while with passengers…

If I do this plus had your great company put the 4x4 system in it... Will I be able to tow 15k-17k pounds of tailoring...Lastly but most importantly will I be able to carry 15 passengers safely without worry about flipping over?
