NV4500 in 2001 F350 clutch question

I'm getting ready to abandon the 4R100 auto tranny and install a NV4500 and 241 DHD xfer case in my 01 F350. Question is how do I go from a Ford clutch master to the Dodge slave cylinder? Do I have to have a hydraulic shop make a hose to adapt the two parts or will one or the other work?

thanks guys

Buy the ford clutch master and see what size the hose is, you might get lucky and they be the same size. If not, it should still be a relatively easy job to tap both and adapt an AN fitting.

not likely. the hose for the dodge system is a plastic hose. Not sure what the ford is. I'm thinking that the 97 dodge master might work since it was held in place by 2 bolts like the ford

thanks

I'd get a slave cyl from a first gen dodge.. thats what southbend uses for the upgraded hydraulics etc..
I'm swapping my G56 intothe excursion now..took nv4500 out sold it to a friend.. I had upgraded my web link with more pictures for you a while back did you check them out?
Thanks

I took pics of the floor and the slave cylinder in the web album that you had asked for etc etc. I have new pictures I'm gonna put in soon, that have the floor hole in the floor the previous owner had put in. etc. My G56 6 speed is going in it soon.
Thanks,
Deo

i use all dodge stuff and shortened the rod going to the clutch pedal seems easier to me than doing all that stuff. then wnen it goes out, just get a new one alredy bled from dodge and slap it on.

Thats similar to how mine is setup. The previous owner cut and modified the ford clutch push rod etc. Mine uses the dodge slave cyl too. The Excursion uses the 273 transfercase and supposedly the stock driveshaft lengths.

It has begun. I finally installed the fly wheel and clutch. Ive got the tranny under the truck but ran out of day light. I took some pics of the progress. I'm gonna try to mate the Ford master to the dodge slave. I have some used ones to try. If it doesnt work then I'lll go with the Dodge set up

I looked at a superduty clutch slave push rod ina junk yard truck and it would need to be REALLY modified to work...I'd contact who ever you are buying a cluthc from ie southbend etc and buy the updated dodge slave cyl.. and modifie the forrd push road to fit etc..make sure you drill the clutch pedal ear out and make a push pin as the stock retaining bushing will break and allow the push rod to fall off the pedal..very annoying
Thanks,
post some pictures up for us..
Thanks

I've got the tranny and xfer case installed. Also had both drive shafts altered to fit. I was able to use the factory Ford automatic cross member. I had to make a 1/4 spacer plate and then used the Ford auto tranny mount. Turned out to be real simple. Next up is the clutch hydraulics. I took some pictures but they're on my computer at home. not much to see but I'll post them any way.

She's alive. Got everything bolted up and wired up. Took her for a spin today. Felt good to go through the gears
Here's what you need to know. Simple swap! I was able to use the Ford tranny cross member and the Ford tranny mount but used a 1/2 inch spacer/adapter as the bolts from the NV4500 and the Ford mount dont line up. I slid the cross member forward about 1 1/2 inches. The holes are already there so no drilling required. I used the Ford clutch master and a NV5600 slave cylinder. I had a hydraulic shop make a new line to mate them. They also installed a bleed screw at the slave cylinder. Bleed the components good before install.

I used a adapter from Advanced Adapters to bolt the Ford xfer case to the NV4500. List was $410 but I worked em down to $364 shipped. I would guess that anybody could do that as I'm thiking that they're probably not selling a lot of adapters because of the economy

I dont really have any more as it was quite simple with the exception of cutting the floor for the shifter. Lots of guess work

here are a few pics
