Haven't posted in awhile. Still working on my 1990 Cherokee - slowly. Thought I'd let you know that if you need an engine, they are lots available on

I just found some BSFC data for the 4B3.3-G1, it's an NA genset engine but I would imagine it would be pretty close to the B3.3's.

I was looking at your Flickr pics and noticed your engine doesn't have the lower oil fill spout next to oil filter like mine & TDIwyse's engines have. The turbocharger oil drain ties into the this spout. I'd like to remove this lower oil fill spout. I believe that I can use a turbocharger oil drain like yours to accomplish this. Is the part number for this part C6205518431? And are the necessary gaskets C6205517611 & C6204216820? What are the cost of these parts? Also, what is the part number for QSB3.3T paint? Thanks.

Thanks! I'd wanted to see some of that type of BSFC vs HP at constant rpm's.

I had issues with that thing hitting the passenger side frame mount in the jeep. I ended up cutting off a portion of the spout and putting in an expandable rubber plug. It looks pretty redneck but so does my whole jeep

Speaking of redneck . . . I did some redneck wind tunnel testing on those vortex generators several weeks ago. Of course it involved duct tape along with my shop vac. I had the shop vac tube hooked to the exhaust and was using it to blow air across the roof and over the VG's. Used string tapped to VG's to watch the air flow. I modified the positions/angles some based on what I was seeing and added a few more. The two tanks of fuel since this mod have yielded 37.5 and 35.3 mpg. That's 522.4 mls with a total of 14.4 gallons for a 2 tank average of 36.3. This is by far the best single and two tank averages I've ever had. I've been running straight petro diesel since Feb so I'm sure that's part of it as well.
I've got a little video of the windtunnel exercise that I'll try to put on youtube this week. It's not great but you can see the wind pattern generated by the VG's.
Oh, and here's that mitsubishi paper about the VG's that got me interested in them a long time ago.

I wanted to see MotoBoyMatt's data in a more visual perspective. From my calculations I need ~40hp to travel ~60mph on flat road with no wind. Interestingly enough it looks like the higher rpm point would give better mpg's than the lower rpm point. At ~65 I need ~ 50 hp and again the higher rpm would give better mpg's.

Tube & gaskets.......in case I damage one or both. I called Cummins Midsouth for a price on C6205518431.........$122! Does this sound correct, or did I supply the incorrect part number? Is that the part number for the tube on your engine?

Filled up again. 38.4mpg. This is crazy. I was expecting ~5-8% improvement in mpg's by running on staight D2 compared to mostly biodiesel based on the studies I've read. It appears the engine will be exceeding this expectation. Here's a chart of my fuel economy/bio% over the last 3 years. The mpg's are a 3 tank running average to reduce the tank-to-tank randomness of the data.
