The fan I used was a perma cool 16" fan 2950 cfm with adjustable temp controller. Sat in traffic for 2 1/2" hours last night to go 57 miles and fan never came on.

Man I'm glad I live in the sticks...

I drive about 20 miles to work, takes about 18 minutes. I'm lucky if I see 3 or 4 vehicles on my way to work. Usually see more deer than people on the way in

Thanks for the fan info. Where are the best deals on fans 1000cfm-2000cfm with the controls included? I also figured that all put the pulley would be the same. That price isn’t bad. I have started posting pictures, not much on there now. I will take some better ones over the weekend and have them up Monday.

I've been wondering what the differences between turbo and normally aspirated are. I have the 65 hp, cpl 2675 b3.3. It does have a rotary pump injection pump.

I've sent Macet a pm with the ESN to determine the differences.

A truly AWESOME thread!

It's only a dream. But I really wish to 3.3 or 3.9 a mid 80's pickup.

Mostly going to subscribe to this thread for updates.

Got my fan off ebay. Haven't checked prices lately to know what's the best deal.

Nice start on the pics. Keep us updated on the fun!

Yikes! That's not gonna help the mpg's. I agree with 5.9Excursion's comment. I hate traffic.

1st post, but I've been lurking for a while. I've been researching various diesel swaps. I've compared the weight, coefficient of drag, wheelbase, size of engine bay, available axle ratio, compatible manual OD transmissions, IFS vs. SFA, conversion cost, etc.,etc of various vehicles.

I had initially decided on converting a 4X4 1998 Dodge Durango to a Cummins 4BT, ZF/Ford 5S-42 tranny, BW1356 transfercase and Ford HP DANA 44 front axle. After speaking to the Louisiana DMV & DEQ (numerous telephone conversations) concerning vehicle inspection of a diesel converted vehicle that did not originally have a factory diesel option, I have decided that I will need to use a pre OBDII (1995 or older) vehicle for my conversion. I was informed by these agencies that if I cannot pass the OBDII plug-in inspection, then I will not be issued an inspection tag. While I can solder in various resistors, re-use some of the Dodge 318 sensors and even leave the EFI injectors plugged into the harness, I don't think I can prevent the ECM from throwing a trouble code.

Hence, I'm now leaning toward a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ with a Cummins B3.3T. I presently drive a 4.5" lifted 1998 Cherokee XJ and except for the terrible mpg, like it. It replaced a 1995 Cherokee that I drove for many years before retiring it with 280K miles. I'm researching transmission/adapter options. The transmissions I'm considering are the Ford M5R2, Dodge/Jeep AX15, Dodge/Jeep NV3550 and Chevy NV3500.

I'd like to know more about your Phoenix Castings transmission adapter. I see you are using the 3.9 V6 bellhousing. Are you intending to use the AX15? Will your adapter work with the Dodge NV3550? I'm sure I'll have more questions as your build continues.

Thanks to everyone for all the info,
Mike

Yes the nv3500 will fit it has the same pattern as the AX-15/3.9 bellhousing. I am going to use the stock jeep AX-15. I think you will need the same set up I have. With the PC adapters installed the rear ov my 3.3 has the same configuration as the rear of a v8/v6 Dodge.

Guess that shoots a Jelly Bean Ford (97'ish) down.

I had a '92 I liked a lot except for mileage.

What the heck am I talking about? I can't afford to pay attention!

I spoke to Bill with Phoenix Castings yesterday. They have adpaters to convert SAE 4 to small block Chevy, small block Ford and small block Chrysler. I asked him about clutch options and he said to use the factory Chevy, Ford, Chrysler flywheel and clutch. He also stated that they are working on an adapter for the AMC pattern used on the Jeep 4.0L AX15/NV3550.

As far as I can tell, the only clutch option for the AX15 is 10.4". The Chevy & Chrysler have 12" and the Ford 11.5" clutches available.

I enjoyed your title of "Headache" for that one pic.

Can you elaborate a bit on why you've removed all the dash and wiring?

Lets make this clear for everyone What I have shown will fit any transmission that mates to a v8 or v6 Dodge (Dakota, Durango, Cherokee, or full sized truck.

I sold the engine computer included. Some of my wiring was incorporated with the engine harness. So I am going to simplify everything cut out what I don't need keeping just the chassis wiring. I Plan on using Auto Meter gauges and build a custom dash. Shouldn't be bad the dash panel is flat. You didn't have that problem (no computer). I just don't want to keep unnecessary wiring.
