thanks for the info. ill start pricing the AX15. does anyone know how much the AMC 4.2 weighs? just to compare it to the cummins.

i also have a fuel injected 350 mated to a SM465 4x4 tranny. this pair will go into the jeep if i cant find a diesel, tranny, and adapters for 5000$ or less.

has anyone mated a SM465 to a cummins before?

I just sent Marco an email regarding possible programming for the QSB3.3, I'll report back what he says.

Someone did mention a good point earlier. Fuel, air, and 12 volts - and it runs...

turbo or non turbo

Can you use a non turbo engine or can you convert a non turbo engine to a turbo engine I have good deal on a non turbo engine I would hate to pass it up. It’s from a skid loader it has a bad hydro sym and owner that’s just wanted to get it out of his sight. just a little back ground I want to but it in a 1964 Fairlane 4 door for a test bed then maybe a mustang or something a little bit more sporty that the plan for now or in till I sleep again. Guys just tell me if I am running down the wrong path and hold out for a turbo version. thank's guy's for your time .

The fuel pump will be totally wrong. Can't comment on anything else, but at the very least you're looking at a new fuel pump, turbo, piping, larger injectors, etc...

Send me the ESN, I'll compare it to a turbo.

Engine serial number, and all Cummins motors have a tag somewheres on the timing cover usually with all the engine info.

Marco said he has NEVER looked at the software on a QSB 4 cylinder...

I knew it was wishful thinking

ive been looking on line for a used or rebuilt 3.3. they are just not out there. so i started pricing new ones. i have to admit im disappointed. i haven't got a quote under 5750$ yet. did you get a "buddy" price or some kind of discount? just curious. if i decide to go through with this project it seems i could save a boat load of money by getting the motor from cedar rapids.

i don't know any cummins employees that could help me out, but i do know a fair amount of Case I.H. employees that would. ive mentioned the 3.3 to them but they haven't come across one yet. since im not ready to shell out the money just yet i haven't pestered them to much.......but i will.

how did you pay just $3780?

That price was from about 2 years ago and the cost of steel has gone up since then. I don't doubt the cost has gone up since I bought mine. These ebay listing are for a couple different types of 3.3's and are under what you have been quoted:

Cummins 3.3

Here's another source for engines. I've never used DieselEngineTrader.com

http://dieselenginetrader.com/engine...=Cummins&ID=19

Another possibility is to look for a Komatsu 4D95 engine which is the same as a Cummins 3.3.

The Cummins is made in Japan and today the dollar is down against the Yen at its lowest since 1995. Prices on the engines are not going to get cheaper anytime soon. I am sure the dealers are going to raise prices. Fuel costs are also causing shipping costs to rise.

Al's Diesels Only on Ebay has some great prices and he doesn't require a core charge as some other sellers. His current Cummins is new and not rebuilt.

I suggest you be patient and look on Ebay. The economy is tanking and people usually sell toys when they need the cash. I bought my Cummins new last year for $2300.00. It had some minor damage and the seller needed the money. I had to buy a longer flywheel housing that put me at $2700.00 total. I also bought a new Daihatsu 3 cylinder last year for $2000.00 for my Geo Metro project. The engine was a test engine that the company gave to him via a raffle. The seller works for a commercial lawn tractor company.
