Launching with a DD
I've been trying to figure out the best way to lunch with a DD and a 6 speed. I've tried boosted launches and all I do is spin. Its fun but its not fast with my rwd.
So I've been experimenting and the best I've come up with is starting at 1800 rpm and starting to let the clutch out and as she starts to grab I lay into the throttle and off we go without spin. 2nd, 3rd, 4th, whatever. Ususally third.
BTW I've got 3.54 gears.
Any suggestions???

ph4tty...ive been messing around with mine the last 2 weeks. with the 6spd i can get good quick launches in 3rd gear from about 2700rpms, hold it there and start to let it out, once is starts to engage it'll bring the rpms down into the powerband and off you go, when the clutch gets "locked up" fully then you can give 'er heck and roll coal.
this is in 2wd mind you with single rear wheels. the only difference i can see is you having the smarty/tst which is gonna make your power come in stronger and quicker than mine with the comp/injectors.
dont use 2nd gear tho, its too low, you have to shift too quick, 3rd gear will let you get out a little further distance and run thru the full power band/torque curve

What has always worked for me is bring it up to about 2700 or 3500
. Start letting the clutch out and ride the clutch for a while until its just about fully engaged and then dump it. Or just launch in 4hi.

My best 60' to date is like 2.7 spinning all the way
It was fun but doesn't make the truck go fast
