ohhh youve got the clutch for it! dang this should be easy. put it in 4 low and 2nd gear (i would think) and ease into it.

hooking bumpers isnt about power, its about traction. wait till he starts spinning then take im around the block a coupla times

just dont go get excited and give her heck and break the tires loose! then your toast

I would think you'll be alright with the stocker clutch for now. Just turn your BDTD down a bit. As long as the F*rd is stock and you keep your traction, you'll be alright! Also, get a 6 inch drop hitch and turn it up. This will make him pull down on you, giving you some added traction...

Yea..... don't hook with chains use tow straps. Lots less chance for collateral damage that way.

As brian stated

this shouldnt even be a contest.... just dont break the tires loose and if you hook on dirt, lower your tire pressure, as well as on pavement. he has the bigger traction advantage over you with the tires, as well as the weight...

If he has an auto you will probably be at a disadvantage.
Manuals have a good chance of killing the motor when the clutch is engaged.

Honestly, Id put it on either the stock, or lowest setting with the stock clutch. Its not power that wins this, its traction. Id run 2nd 4 low, and just pull up to 2k rpm's or so, and come out on the clutch smooth. You should be able to walk off with him.

chain

if i were you id hook up with chain less chance for jumping around heres is a tip put about 22 psi in your tires and if you hook up with a ball hitch make sure you make a turn around it with the chain and hook it up so the chain is up on the hitch that will make it so he pulls down on your truck that will give you added weight you need and dont be scared floor it if you both start spinning with out much movement keep the pedal to the metal and play around with your brakes tapping them so your weels lock up

take it from me worked good when i was pulling a dmax with my old 92

Let him begin to spin his wheels as you sit there with your brakes locked. Then let your tubo spool up and walk the dog.

WELL, Did you hook with this guy yet?

I have been waiting for a guy to hook with me. He started with this so I told him to get his bronco and and his mustang hooked together and I'll pull them both around the block. I guess that was enough to shut him up.
