im a base model, no fancy extra gadgets. its a quad cab long bed.

its been 7600, 7400, 7100 depending on fuel in the tank...plus there are some pulls that have a 10k limit (brush pulls)

lets also add that i will be taking off my tailgate, rear bumper, spare tire, and removing all unnecessary weight that is behind the cab, my aluminum toolbox will have just an air tank, compressor and tool kit in it this year. and most pulls i will only be going to with 1/4 to 3/8 tank so i can put more weight up front. i want to be able to hang about 800lbs for a 8k class.

Just a suggestion... you might want to consider some sort of triangular brace going farther backwards on the frame. I mount my weight bar in the bumper holes as well, the only problem is that one set is slotted, and even though I hammered all the bolts down tight it still oblonged the other holes and allowed the bar to flex downwards (the whole thing rotates about the bumper holes). I added a small brace on each side going to the frame to get some triangulation and it doesn't flex anymore. That thing looks mighty beefy though!

I am not big on the weights hanging at an angle.
I think if you level out the rack the weights will be secured better to keep from falling off....

Heck, just get a Reunel front bumper and you'll have a nice, tough 400# addition to the front.

Kinda hard to remove when not at the track

I dont think I can heat that thick steel and bend it up, and i think it would weaken it anyway.

if i cant figure out a good way to mount it so the front lip is perpendicular, i will find something else at my buddy's steel shop that the weights can hang/slide on

Cut and weld (or have someone weld it).

when i go to the shop i will look around and see it i can find some I-beam that works.

cutting and welding it probably won't work because of where it is already bent...I can probably find some new 5/8" plate at the shop anyway. best part is its all free.

built my bumper and driveline loops there for $0

WOW!!! thats really heavy!! I have a 03 QC LB and I added 350# removed the tailgate and broke wait at 8450# I ran 1/4 tank of fuel, that drops alot of wait right there. The DHRA pull I removed the tire jack and the tailgate and broke 8000# on the nose.

I just finished my wieght rack... I used a fork carriage off of a forklift and the fork backs as weights. It came out nice and custom. Best part is the locking pins keep them in place, they are easy to remove and I will never have to worry about them falling off! (and it was free to me) Each one weighs 40lbs and I can get 12-15 of them on the carriage. the carriage itself weighs 300lbs.

I'll get some pics and post them tomorrow!

What's wrong with a simple piece of 5/16" thick, 4 or 5" angle iron? That seems to be the standard around my neck of the woods, simpler fabrication as well. Plenty strong as well, I've had 1500 lbs off of a piece of 4" 1/4" thick angle iron without any issues at all.
