Weld one of these to a piece of stock for an adjustable unit:

Your not going to get anything rated for the weight of the sled.
Show me a hitch/clevis/eye that is rated for 40k lbs and 100lbs of drag/resistance that will work easily on our pickups?
Besides many of these are already in use. Big Bad Dodge uses one.
As well as Chris Watsons "smokin" Modified 1400hp truck used one without issue (new truck now).
And just about every truck I seen pulling on the west coast (Duramaxes and Cummins).
Most of the local stuff around here is fabricated from steel plate/stock.
Hell, I have even seen some people use U bolts, and weld clevises together.
What kind of hitch do you pull with or recommend?

I have a hitch similar to the one you mentioned except mine has a 3.5" ID and a longer mounting piece with more adjustment holes in it. They will hold if you gusset the back side a little. I think mine was a little higher $ than that, but mine is a little heavier made.
Overall they seem to work good, but your adjustment incriments are 2" which can get you some times if you aren't careful. With a few more correctly placed holes you should be able to reduce that some.
