Can you weld, or know someone who can?

This or some 2x2 solid shank and a couple gussets
and
this
and
this
is what you need to make a decent hitch. You might need to grind some material out of that loop tho, some places require a 3.5" opening.

the ones just above this make it easyer to make and I may do it some day but I needed it that night so is what i made out of some 3/4" plate and 3/16" plate on the sides and some 3/8" wall tubing. Total cost $0.00 and about 30 min of my time. I had all of this laying around. It was easy to make. It has held for 4 hooks and has no sign of even the slightest bend. I was out pulling all but a few 2nd and 3rd gens. All over 269ft.

there are a few others on there too. Even the one were they left a small mountain range in the middle of the track.

I did that and still have the ring sitting on the shelf untouched...I wanted it adjustable and my only optionw as welding it on since the holes didnt match up.

so I welded that channel to the plate and its plenty solid now.

I made my hitch, a stage 5 looks weak to it.

That is exactly what I planned on doing, making one like that. I stopped by tractor supply & the hitch was $30 done. Just to buy some 2" solid square bar was $15ft. Then I would have to drill it, plate it & gusset it. I figured all that work was well worth $15.

My plans were to go to Highway trailer in Hopwood, Pa [about 20 min away] & buy a 4 bolt flange lunette ring with the same bolt pattern as my hitch that I just got. If I can't find one, then I'm gonna do the channel.

Here's the 304 stainless steel hitch we pulled with in Alvarado a few weeks back:

... designed & fabricated at the shop, of course.
