Read Bens post, as he said it was probably a fuel limp, that limits the motor to 2000 rpm, not a tranny limp.

Yes,... I read Bens post and told him and the Members it had to be the best explanation I have seen on the Allison. He also said the Allison is "made to be a towing transmission", not really a race transmission. The 1/4 mile times that Buck and Jess Spruill are now turning with their 47RE Dodge tranny to me has proven that it is the better of the two for drag racing. Noone here is saying the Allison is not a good tranny, I know I certainly am not, but like alot of other components it has its place and use and for low E.T.'s like Buck and Jess are running, IMHO, I do not think it is the answer there. The reasons and explanations Ben has given clearly spell that out.

Im not saying you were, but im calling bs on an allison limping at 300 hp to the rear wheels. Maybe a low fuel rail pressure limp but not and allison limp.

Oh and before you guys get too excited about the allison not being able to produce real fast times, Team Orange Crush ran a 9.875 @139.41 ealier this week with an ATS Extreme Allison. Its and 1970 orange chevy truck with a duramax allison combo.

the allisson is a great ranny as i have always stated.some one gave a great detailed post of how it works earlier.we could not get the allsion to hold for multiple low et passes, about the time the trann was learned it was all but done.also letsbe sure to mention that the crush is a back halfed truck tha weighs about 1500 or more lbs less, less weight means less stress on the tranny.i think the tech will come around for the ally to hold in a full sized applicarion at these speeds but dont know when...
