Big Rigs Talk about other Cummins powered vehicles here. As a matter of fact, it doesn't even have to be Cummins, but it will be diesel! :)

Oil Capacities

It is time to change the oil in the fire trucks at the fire department and I am needing to get the oil capacities for them. Here are the engines Cummins NTC 855, Cummins M11, and a Cummins ISM. The fireman that use to handle this is no longer in the department. Thanks in advance.

I think ISM is about 9 gal.It uses a 1-1/4" wrench for drain plug.
I should remember better, I just did 3 changes two weeks ago, and one M11.
The others not sure. maybe call dealer parts dept or service and give them engine/truck serial and they might tell you, if no one chimes in.

The 855 is 40qts if it has a single oil filter. If it has a bypass filter mounted with the oil filter then it will be 42 qts. The ISM and M11 are both around 36qts.

Put it in the middle range. If you start putting fuel in the oil and the level is checked every day before the rig gets run, you'll find it.
