At least on an 03:

Front axel is 4.75 pints
Rear axel is 7.65 pints
MV6500 6 speed is 9.5 pints
Transfer case I believe is 4 pints

Figure 7 quarts of 75-90 for the axels, I suppose.
5 quarts for the tranny,
and two quarts for the transfer case.

MV6500 6 speed is 9.5 pints ??

Is this a misprint or is it a new trans ?

Haulin_in_Dixie,

My bad, I meant NV5600. "MV" was a typo.

If you meant the capacity seemed wrong, if I recall, wasn't the NV5600 redesigned for 03? Book says 8.0 pints for NV4500, and 9.5 for NV5600...

Perhaps someone who is more of an expert will chime in...

The '03 DRM says the NV5600 capacity is 9.5 pints.

I put in about 9.5 pints in mine when I changed it out a couple of months ago (almost 5 quarts).

BTW, for the NV271 Xfer case, the book calls for 4.0 pints, but mine took a little over 5 pints - I bought 3 qts and had some left over.

Interesting. My transfer case was most of a quart below the fill hole from the factory, and I was wondering if that was low enough to cause problems later... considering it is apparently only supposed to take two quarts.

Jeff, I don't know, but others have also reported the same thing - xfer case and/or tranny being low.

That was one of the reasons why I changed everything when I did - now I know that everything is topped off as it should be.

I used Redline MT-90 in my 99 5-speed. It made a big difference. Before I used it, I always had a hard time getting in to reverse and 1st. After the use of Redline, it was much better!

I was going to run MTL in my tranny, but my local vendor ran out when I was ready to buy. Amsoil is in there now - I'm happy with it. There's a number of folks running MTL in their tranny's and reporting good results also. I may try it next go around.

I do have MTL in my Mustang 5-speed tranny and enjoying every moment of it.

I'm waiting for correct part number from AMSOIL on FOAM AIR FILTER ASSEMBLY..it's either the TS 106 OR TS 189...

Commando....here, from another post I answered...

I'm changing shortly (as soon as all arrives)

Engine: Amsoil 15-40w Heavy Duty Diesel and Marine Oil and will be running the Stratapore Oil Filter (LF-16035). Will change oil filter at 7500 miles and then oil and filter at 15k. This way I'm covered by both A & B Schedules in my owner's manual.

6 spd Transmission - REDLINE MTL ( cause it's specifically made for transmissions) Cheapest I found $7.00 a quart at
http://www.myoilshop.com/AutoPrds.html

Frt and Read End: Amsoil Series 2000 75w-90 Gear Oil

Transfer Case: Amsoil Universal Auto Trans Fluid

Air Filter: FOAM AMSOIL, TS 189 for 2003 & 2004( confirmed 21JAN04)

Fuel Filter; FleetGuard FS 19579...

Oil Filters and Fuel Filters coming from Geno's Garage at the 4/2/1 kit... http://www.genosgarage.com/

Only 6000 miles on my baby!
