I think we had a few wrecks VE, P7100, VP's and 24CR5.9/6.7L. My garage is filled with all the carnage remains.

Once apon a time, I thought these cummins things were indestructable, but since I've been hanging with the DTR/AB crowd, I know differently.

I know this isn't the thread to post this, but I'm interested in how well a properely fueled 6.7L spools one of those new S478/83 T-6 LI turbine wheels and EH-T compressor wheels as a single and abit of spray.

Rumor is that its suppose to spool better than a S471 does, but thats here say. A few of us have run a GT42 as a single and had pretty decent success at making power. Drivablity isn't much of a concern though, as it will just be for the track and dyno blasting events.

I think it would spool it just nice. Especially if it had a race cover or the like to tighten it up

Whats EH-T? Do you mean ET-R?

You should order several of the 478 LI turbos, my dually needs two. I was leaning towards the 87mm turbine though.

Still pricing out parts to get my 6.7L to work with a P7100. I might need an engine for my 02 truck. Sure miss driving the old truck. Anything with 6.7L on it make it more expensive.

Forced has the S478 in stock, but they only took 6 weeks to ship mine. You might been told that about a GT55.

Jose' told me that the S478 should spool fairly decently as a single. I got rid of my edge on my 02, so I probably commited to Pee pumping it. Ya its a ET-R, man I forget things at my age.

Price wise, the S478 is cheaper than the S480 is, and it suppose to spool better.

Kev, hows things buddy? you getting the 6.7L ride really for E-town and smash that super street record.

Jose was upfront about the delay on the GT55's, but it was an 8-12 week backorder. Its not been 7 months. And I hear the ET-R's are no longer an option. So its either the twin 78's or the 106. So many options, so little time and money.

Tate its going to be worth the wait, GT55 is going to be one sweet turbo. The GT5541R is the sweet ticket, just to bad its so much money, but such a sweet turbo.

I think it would be fun to try triples, worst case we use them in twins not like we cant use them. Hard to go wrong with a S478, and if they spool as good as a S471, its going to be a sweet upgrade for anyone who has a S471 or S475. Jose' is real decent guy and was sweet working with a guy that knows his turbos as well as he does. I probably go with a tighter turbine wheel/housing in triples than what you would do with twins but of course, you have 5000 rpm's of exhaust flow, which changes things.

Talking about turbos, I also got a S476, suppose to be 5lbs/min more than a S475 and priced the same. Uses the LI turbine whee, so they spool decentlyl. Hopefully it works very nicely in Jamie's truck.

That is the back up plan if I go with the 478's. Apparently there are several wheels available for the GT55 thats not listed on the garrett site. I'd be interested to know if the 106 has a different wheel/housing thats more geared to higher PR's. The 94 and 106 don't have very high PR, the 91 will go up to 5.5.

Since when do we need much of a PR on the primary?

For triples I would run the tight 83mm turbine wheels and tight T4 housings, as you are feeding two of them. Approximate area on two 83mm wheels is 10815mm2 vs a single 96 mm wheel at 7234mm2, so that would put two 83mm wheels ~ equivalent to a single 117mm wheel, which is bigger then you would find on either the S500 chassis, or the GT5541, it would be closer to the size found in a G trim thumper unit.

Or in terms of flow even with a 1.0 AR T4 on that 83mm wheel you are ~ 37lbs/min each for a total of 74lbs/min vs a 1.40 T6 on a GT5541 (only decent sized turbine wheel I had numbers for) at 69lbs/min

Truth be told a pair of 66mm free float box stocks with T4's on them would support the sort of power you are after, or a pair of 72's, but they are as much money, and supposedly only spool as fast as the 78's so why not go big...

I should have an idea how the S478 spools in a week or two, not as a single though.

Which one did you get? There are a few different A/R and turbine wheel sizes available? Keep us posted, I'll probably running mine around late July or August timeframe. Hopefully I don't do a Tate and melt the turbine wheel down. I want to use it on my 2010 later in the year.

I'm gonna install them just before you get the truck. I would never be able to tow if I threw them in now...
